Dr. Joe Maria Huerta

Visited his office quite a few years ago per referral from an audiologist. I was unable to get in with the doctor who had been recommended, so the staff asked me if I would see Dr. Huerta. I agreed, since there was the possibility of a serious condition and I wanted to be seen right away. Huge mistake, a total nightmare. He didn't even read the chart until the end of the visit, was rude and verbally abusive for no reason at all. This was on top of the stress of knowing that my audiology test result indicated that I might possibly have a tumor. When I told my primary care doctor about the experience, he apologized profusely and said he had no idea I would end up seeing Dr. Huerta or he would have warned me to stay away. Staff at Dr. Huerta's office told me that I couldn't switch to a different doctor there. Unfortunately, this was a time when referrals were difficult to obtain and I was stuck. Instead of recommending an MRI, he did some in-house tests (I guess they make… more money that way). He was very vague about the cause of my condition and never actually gave a diagnosis. Good thing I didn't have a tumor - would probably be dead by the time I got the proper referral. I've worked in a large hospital, and I've never before seen or heard of patients being treated this rudely. Incredibly unprofessional. Some of his staff were very nice (not the front desk), but I have to say that this was the most harrowing medical situation I've ever experienced. I hope this guy is retired. I wish he had never been in practice.
