Dr Joel Arthur Block

This man should be ashamed to call himself a doctor. As a head of the rheumatology department at Rush hospital he spends more time going to meetings and filing paperwork than treating patients. With that in mind, he should not be allowed to see patents when he is unable to make or follow an accurate diagnosis. Joel Block took me off all my medications I was given for years by other reputable rheumatologists for a confirmed condition. He then sent me off to other rush doctors for no reason. By doing all this to me, Joel Block caused me to experience damage to my body I will never recover from. Joel Block is the head of rheumatology at Rush. I fear to imagine what other, regular, rheumatologists do to their patients at Rush. I have no doubt the 5 star review below mine is by Rush hospital's marketing department (yes they have one).

Everything about the visit was excellent.

After poking & jerking me around on the exam table, when I cried out in pain he laughed & said "I have been told I am very good at causing pain". After he briefly leafed through my medical records he commented I don't think you have Lupus. This comment was made without any diagnostic medical tests being made. He was arrogant, rude, insensitive & in my opinion NOT a competent doctor at all. I was originally diagnosed by a hematology clinic with all the approriate medical tests as having Lupus. His comments were going to deny me the right kind of care for Lupus. When I complained to the head of the dept. I was told I couldn't doctor shop & threatened with being referred to a regular clinic instead of Rheumatology. Which ulitmately that's what I have ended up with. I never did get to see the specialist I was originally referred to.
