Dr. Joel Anthony Geffin, MD

I thought I had dry eye for the last 4 years...Dr. Geffin diagnosed me with blepharitis and rosacea. He put me on a course of antibiotics, eye lid washing and steroidal eye drops and for the 1st time in 4 years I am not uncomfortable! Kudos to him. Great clinician and I highly recommend him.

I brought my mom to Dr. Geffin for a second opinion on needing cataracts surgery. My mom has Parkinson’s disease, but most of her symptoms are controlled. She does have a longer than normal processing time. She has to swallow before answering a question. I’m not talking about a lengthy processing time. Dr. Geffin has zero patience for my mom. It took us 3 hours for the initial appointment. Test after test trying to figure out how to “fix” my moms eyes. She got a prescription because he determined cataracts was not her vision problem. He said the amount of cataracts she had would not affect her eye site. He determined this after viewing her old eye exams. The prescription he gave her didn’t work, she saw double with the new glasses. On the third doctors appt he determined my mom was too complicated and she needed to see a behavioral optometrist in Orange. Every time I left and especially the last I had a horrible feeling. He just seemed stressed every time he saw my mom. He called… her special needs, at one point, when we were discussing her prognosis. I then asked my moms neurologist if he knew of anyone who worked well with patients with Parkinson’s. He recommended UCONN Ophthalmology. We saw Dr. Chaudry, who said my mom did in fact have Cataracts. She had the surgery in both eyes and is seeing better than when she had her glasses on before. She doesn’t really even need glasses at this point. She was so kind and my mom answered her questions fast because she made her feel so comfortable. She and her staff were professional and exactly what you would expect an eye dr to be. Dr. Geffin is not a Doctor I would ever recommend for someone. He was degrading and rude. On top of it has no idea what he’s doing. He is not willing to take the time to see the whole patient. It’s a shame.

Dr. Geffin is by far one of the best ophthalmologist surgeons in CT. I went to four ophthalmologists and three surgeons over a period of two years trying to diagnose what was wrong with my vision and eyes. Every one of them misdiagnosed me. I was ready to give up and decided to try this doctor . Within two minutes into my exam he asked me a series of questions about my health and thyroid and said he knew exactly what I had, that it was a rear incurable disease. We spoke at length about it what to expect what treatments there were for relief. He was and has continued to be kind and caring, sensitive, well-informed and extremely knowledgeable in this field of ophthalmology . I’ve done a few surgeries with him with some good results and I wholeheartedly trust him, his ability, his brilliance and expertise, as well as his desire to truly want to help his patients . I highly recommend him.

Excellent surgeon; I have the utmost faith in him. He did PRK on both eyes and I went from nearly legally blind to 20/20 vision
