Dr. John Gregory Atwater, MD

Do not recommend a Dr who would tell an 86yr old man to undergo a painful 2hr procedure under general anesthesia, and with a long recovery period... ??? Would love to know why he told my father this would be a good idea??? My father has a severe cardiac history and would not even be cleared for a surgery like this....what the hell is wrong with you????? JERK!!!!

a minute ago NEW The staff has always been very pleasant and knowledgeable. Both office locations are immaculate. Dr. Atwater takes his time to throughly explain things. I've never felt rushed while asking questions. Dr. Atwater is a very kind and compassionate doctor whom I highly recommend.

Absolutely no interaction with front desk. My daughter & I waited for almost an hr & when I asked about the delay they had no idea as they didn't work for Dr Atwater. Finally Donna came out & said my appt was changed by voice mail from 2 to 9am I didn't see it until I was home & it actually said 9am & to confirm it. I never saw this & ""never"" confirmed it. Very disappointed in the interaction of the staff. Wasted afternoon & travel time.

Dr Atwater warned me that after removing arthritus and inserting 3 cages between my disks that it could be up to a year before I was able to play Golf again. Three mos. after surgery and successful rehab he released me to take it slow but start playing again . I started playing as a sub after for 4 mos. and regular after 5 mos. for rest of last season! I can't thank him enough for giving me back an active life. Phil Novak

I initially requested an appointment using your website. No response for more than a month. Finally received a call to make an appointment. When I inquired about what insurance the physician accepted I was told to call my insurance company because the receptionist didn’t think he would accept my supplemental. I did not call back. Another staff member called some time later to make an appointment and reassured me the physician would accept my insurance. The day before my appointment the original receptionist call to say the doctor will not be seeing patients this week so my appointment is cancelled. Obviously they do not wish to have a new patient. If the physician is unaware of the front office activities, perhaps this review will make him aware.

Dr. Atwater is an amazing Dr and surgeon. About 18 months ago, I injured my back. I didn’t realize how seriously I had hurt myself until my pain reached an intolerable level. I went to the ER because my pain continued to worsen. After a CT scan, I was told I had a burst fracture of my L1 and it was serious. Out of pure luck, the ER called in Dr Atwater. From the moment I met him, I felt confident about his diagnosis and what needed to be done to repair my back. He never rushed, explained everything to my husband and I and even drew pictures to show us what he would be doing to surgically repair my back. Hie is so very kind, listens and answers all questions and concerns and never once made us feel rushed. Back surgery is a scary thing. His reassurance was so comforting. Talk about a blessing. He had to put rods and screws in my back and preform kyphoplasty. His bedside manner is beyond words. He is so very kind and truly cares about his patients. The surgery went very well and was a… great success. Today I am totally pain free and my back never felt better! Words can’t express my heartfelt thanks for the wonderful care I received from Dr. Atwater. He’s one of a kind! ??

As far as my husband and I feel, Dr Atwater walks on water...after cervical spinal fusion my husband had no pain is able to golf again with full range of motion. His PT group is "far" superior to what his previous practice offers
