Dr. John Charles Burnside, MD

He was extremely late refilling prescriptions on several occasions, forcing me to play middle man between his office and the pharmacy, once taking 3 entire weeks to settle whatever communication issue they had. The first time this happened he apologized profusely. When it happened again, he flipped out at me as if I had done something wrong when I brought it up to him. He deflected blame, launched into inapplicable counter arguments, and literally responded to me by repeating a profane word I can't write on here several times in an angry tone. I was explaining the objective facts of what had happened, something which had happened before, and his response was to swear at me in a therapy session. Regardless of any other factor, that is never a valid professional response from a psychiatrist to criticism or voicing of issues by a patient, ever. I am an adult who can handle a large man becoming irrationally angry and swearing at me, but I worry for the children he treats after seeing his… mood go from grinning and chipper to swearing at me in 30 seconds flat over something that was 100% his fault. At that point we ended the session and he followed very close behind me down the hallway continuing to swear at me under his breath as I left. And again, I am an adult man and I could handle his sudden unjustified and unhinged aggression, but he primarily treats children. I would never leave this man alone with a child or trust him to make decisions about their health. If he messes up repeatedly, you will be the one who suffers the consequences. And if you're upset about it, he will kick you out of his office and immediately cut you off from medication, even if immediate cessation of that medication is well known to be dangerous.

When confronted about it, he deflected blame, launched into inapplicable counter arguments, and literally responded to me by repeating the word "bulls**t" several times in a belligerent tone. It is never, in any circumstance, acceptable to respond to a patient and their concerns and issues in that manner. Regardless of any other factor, that is never a valid professional response from a psychiatrist to criticism or voicing of issues by a patient, ever. I am an adult who can handle a large man becoming irrationally angry and swearing at me, but I worry for the children he treats after seeing his mood go from chipper to swearing at me in 30 seconds. I understand that mistakes get made, but there's just no excuse for that response at all, especially from a psychiatrist.

Dr. Burnside is the "most" knowledgeable Dr. we know and is very compassionate and caring about his patients and his practice. We drive over a150 miles to see him and worth it every time. NO issues or complaints. He's the best!!! He has helped our son flourish and become a smart, caring, thoughtful, respectful, individual!!! Recommend him 100%!!

he has been working with my son for 14 years, and he is so compasionate, and caring. My son always enjoyed his sessions with Dr. Burnside. He helped our family so much by helping our son to be the young man he is now.

He is the most competent, caring, and knowledgable physician I have ever had treat me. I would give him a perfect 10 out of 10. If you need someone qualified, caring, and kind, Dr. Burnside is the doctor. I know he treats patients that could go anywhere in the world and they choose him for their children and themselves. I cannot say one negative thing about this truly remarkable person.

Dr. Burnside is an amazing doctor. My brother and I both have been going to him for several years and have always found the visits to be pleasant. I recommend him to anyone looking for a doctor of his specialty.
