Dr. John Cogan, MD

I am very happy with Dr. Cogan but nor happy with my last visit. I made an appointment to see Dr. Cogan and not his P.A. I was told that to see him I had to wait a month and go to a different office. I waited the extra month and drove to the Pembroke office even though his Hollywood office is five minutes from home. The person that walked in to see me was the P.A. She is a very nice lady but not an MD with Dr. Cogan's training and expertise. I asked for Dr. Cogan and was told he had an emergency. No one told me when I was paying the $60 copay that I was not seeing Dr. Cogan. I was seen by the P.A not Dr. Cogan. The electrocardiogram given to me right after doing it says-"reviewed by Dr. Cogan". Dr. Cogan was nowhere around to review it.

I've had Afib for 15 years. Somewhat controlled with Flecainide. Lately, it started to bother more so I decided to go for Cardiac Ablation. I booked an appointment with Dr. Cogan. Once in his office, didn't wait even 10 minutes when I was called to an examination room. Shortly after they took my vitals and an EEG, Dr. Cogan arrived. He quickly saw all my charts and told me I should go for the ablation. He seems very knowledgeable...like he had done this a million times. Still, he took time to explain everything and answer all my questions. I felt very confident he would do a good job. The day of the surgery, I arrived at the hospital and didn't wait long to be called. I was soon sent to a room where I was prepped (vitals, blood test, shaving, etc). The Doctor appeared ON TIME and I was soon sent to the operation room. I was quickly put to sleep and woke up a few hours later. Dr. Cogan appeared soon after and reassured me that everything went perfectly. I stayed one night… at the hospital and Dr. Cogan came to visit me early the next day. Answered all my questions and told me again that everything went perfectly. A couple days later I read his surgery report and was impressed by the thoroughness of it. I sincerely recommend Dr. John Cogan to any prospective patient. I was highly impressed with him from the day I met him until the last time I saw him. Very professional, knowledgeable and caring.

I would certainly suggest this doctor to anyone looking for a good EP doctor.
