Dr. John Denning, DO

I've seen this doctor for four annual physicals. His sessions are robotic and his message is scripted each year. The photo copied dietary guides are the same each year. That said, each year there is a double billing error from his office. He does not care that his patient is having admirative issues from his office. Poor representative for Scripps and physicians.

He is careless and a bully. When I asked to focus on my health concerns he became intimidating got close and in my face and threatened to stop the visit if I don't follow along with him asking irrelevant questions about my dental care when I was there for knee pain and other physical issues. I felt physically threatened by a physician which is ironic. I highly recommend against visiting him.

He is too concerned with typing notes on the computer and not treating the patient. He also bills incorrectly and is too arrogant and stubborn to revisit the appointment to reconsider his erroneous billing codes.

He completely messed up our billing codes, causing us $1500 in payments. He's more interested in asking questions and typing it into the computer than he is in actually diagnosing my four kids' sports injuries. I will never go back to him.

I was a new patient. This doctor ignored my pleasantries and asked cursedly what I was there. He expected a mind of submissive, highly respectful tone from me. He said after a few sentences that he did not like my way of talking and wanted me to switch to another doctor, which I gladly did. An arrogant and cold doctor.

If you like to visit your physician multiple times for the same issue, Dr. Denning is your guy. After having two primary care physicians that I really liked (both left Scripps), I was erroneously referred to Dr. Denning. My first and only visit with Dr. Denning was for an annual physical. He asked what I wanted and I replied that I would like a complete blood panel to know what is going on with my body. Dr. Denning ordered the blood work and requested another appointment for me to come in and review the results. My previous pcp's would either give me a call or drop a note in the mail with the test results. I do not have the time to take an extra 2 hours out of my day to do something that can be done over the phone or other means of correspondence. My next issue was when I needed to have a prescription refilled. My pharmacy called in the refill 4 times with no response. I followed up with Dr. Denning's office to get the prescription sent to my pharmacy. Nothing happened the… first time, so I called Dr. Denning's office again. Same result. On the third call, I was informed that I had to make an appointment to come in an see Dr. Denning to get a prescription I have been taking for 7 years refilled, as this is the doctor's protocol. I found this to be a somewhat dangerous protocol as I had been attempting to get this prescription refilled for over 2 weeks and had completely run out of the medication. After dealing with this, I found that the best result for me was to change primary care physicians.

My husband visited for an annual wellness exam and the doctor said he was "one point above the blood pressure guidelines". Doctor also referenced how the blood pressure guidelines had just changed and in the past, my husband's blood pressure wouldn't be considered high. Doctor ordered extra unnecessary blood tests and required a follow up visit after the labs so my husband could hear about the results. During that second visit, labs showed zero issues with his blood work and no issues with his blood pressure. Doctor charged the wellness visit as a specialty visit so it was no longer covered as a wellness visit and we incurred additional unnecessary charges. My husband is 31 years old, lean, active and has zero negative medical history. Between classifying the wellness visit as a specialty visit, ordering extra labs, and requiring a secondary visit just to tell him the labs were good for his "one point elevated BP"...seems like a way for his office to make more money.

Dr. Denning has been seeing me and treating my conditions for over 6 years now. He is completely thoughtful and caring. He has improved my quality of life and sincerely cares about his patients.

Dr Denning was easy going and helped me without a lot of fuss . I got in quickly and on my way without a hassle . I appreciated this and would seek his professional assistance when needed again .
