Dr. John Marshall Erickson, MD

Thank you for delivering me 31 years ago today. :)

I'm a little upset to hear everyone talking about Dr. Erickson as treating him like they are their only patient, I thought he only did this with me :) haha. Dr. Erickson is one of the best physicians I have ever seen and in this area (OB) I have been seen by a lot! I had a very complicated pregnancy but at the time I was living out of Reno, received excellent care and I have a perfect little man to show for it. I returned and had an annual by Dr. Erickson again, I probably hadn't seen him since 2005 now 2013 and he genuinely remembered me, not for my birth defect but where I worked and joked about how "young" I was then, now I'm 30 with a 1 year old. He took the time to have a serious talk with me about baby #2 and all the risks associated with it, he played devil's advocate and I needed that, I left his office not sad or discouraged about the discussion but feeling involved and cared for. He certainly didn't discourage me from having baby #2 but provided a sounding board and… information and resources to a high risk specialist. He does take the time to get to know people personally, wanted to see pictures of Rylan and talk about the housing market and school, it is not creepy at all, he is class act. I'll be sad when he retires and I am hoping it will not be soon!

I asked a colleague to recommend a new OB-GYN; hands down she said, "Dr. Ericcson is one of my favorite people". A short time later I have to agree. He took time to listen to my perspective, to observe me as an entire person, and to answer/address every last question and concern. His Nurse, Liz was also amazing - compassionate and thorough; they make a great team. I have worked in hospitals both stateside and internationally for the past 12 years; and its easy to get caught up in productivity rather than quality of care no matter what health system you practice in. Going through the motions but not really ever "seeing" the patient for who they are. If there was a poster child for what a Physician should be; Dr. Ericcson is the top candidate. I hope all women have an opportunity to experience such individualized medical attention with a clinician that is thoughtful and vested in both the treatment and outcome. Okay, enough said - he restored my confidence in what medicine is, and… the impact it can have on life. I feel a renewed enthusiasm for helping people during my own daily interactions with patients. Dr. Ericcson and Liz just make the world a better place.

I started going to Dr. Erickson when I was 22 years old, single and care free. Now 10 years later, with 2 kids and a fundamental understanding of medical care and set expectations, I have the utmost respect for Dr. Erickson. He is respectful, patient, caring, extremely knowledgable and goes above and beyond to accomodate his patients. I am very thankful to have found a physician who practices medicine because he wants to not because he has to.

I asked a friend of mine who was a nurse for a recommendation for an obstetrician/gynocologist. She recommended Dr. Erickson. I have been seeing him for 11 years. He saw me through a pregnancy with twins and handled the complications I had with total competency. When the nurses moved me to an area of the hospital that was not as well staffed, he had them move me right back. The nurse's comment at the time was that Dr. Erickson wears suspenders and a belt --meaning he is very cautious when it comes to his patient's well-being.I feel well-taken-care-of with this Doctor.

A few years back when I went for the first time to his office for my annual exam, every thing seemed normal until I was lead to his private office. In there he interviewed me for about an half hour or so asking me personal questions about my life as if he was trying to get to know me. This made me feel a little uncofortable and just wanted to get on with the exam. Has this happened to anyone else? Since then I have never gone back and felt a bit creeped out.

He wasn't going to try to pull out my uterus and was even going to cut me vertically instead of horizontally (the bikini line)!

Dr. Erickson treats me as if I am his only patient. He spends as much time with me as I need and answers every question. When I had surgery he came every morning and again in the evening to check on me. He always has a smile and a kind word. His office nurse Liz is fabulous as well.
