Dr. J. Rush Fisher, MD

This guy takes a cursory look at a dated MRI BECAUSE equipment at site would not read the recent imaging. He quickly declared I need a fusion. I then went to Rothman spine surgeon and another practitioner. Both stated a fusion was not the solution. Always get second and third opinions when dealing with spine issues.

I had a very positive impression with Dr. Fisher at first. After some persuasion, he agreed to do a rather complex spine surgery for me to hopefully solve years of pain. I went through all of the testing and processed to prep for the surgery. A week before the scheduled surgery date my insurance company denied the claim. Dr. Fishers assistant told me she was filing an appeal with the insurance company. She said it would take 6-12 months to hear anything back, and also told me not to call for updates, she would call me when she heard something. I called a few times, regardless, to see if there was any progress. Just after the 12 month mark on my final call, Dr. Fishers assistant apologized and told me she had never actually filed the appeal and I had to meet with him again to start the whole process over. When I met with Dr. Fisher he did not accept any responsibility, and told me it was my fault. He said I should have been doing a better job checking in with his assistant throughout… that year, and basically washed his hands of the whole thing. I didn’t return to see him after this.

Dr. Fisher is simply the best of the best. Terrific and caring manner - always willing to explain it again. Greatly appreciate everything he's done for me and his patience when things take a little longer or when they don't go as planned. Trusted him for the past 8-9 years with each of the procedures. I'll eventually beat the various issues that keep jumping up a level on me. Dr. Fisher and his staff have been with me each step of the way and the level of care given has been remarkable. Thank you!

Dr Fisher is the consummate professional offering sage advice with a kind but straightforward approach. He takes his time and is not anxious to operate unless it is in your best interest. His staff displays the same caring attitude. Highly recommend this fine surgeon,

Great Doctor

Great caring surgeon.

Dr fisher did my first microdisctomy and I was great for 3 yrs then come to find out that disc is herniated again! Also, 2 other discs are in worse condition causing severe pain and limited walking, sleeping, moving. He did a ton of tests which hurt!! then told me I needed 3 level fusion, I was happy! then decides to not do it and tells me there is nothing he can do for me. His PA is not nice and seemed bothered by my phone calls. I guess its all in what the patient has? Now I take pain meds that dont work and I have no quality of life, pure suffering!

I have only good things to say about Rush Fisher. He gave be excellent care before and after surgery. I've had no problems since my disk replacement.

Dr Fisher is amazing and is dedicated to finding a solution to my problems. He is not the typical Dr who prescribes a ton of medication and tells you to have a nice day. He is genuinely concerned and is an excellent asset to Christiana Care. I highly recommend Dr. J Rush Fisher to anyone who has spinal problems. He just really wants to make everyone better and thats what being a Dr is all about.
