John Howington, MD

John Howington, MD, is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon. Dr. Howington most recently served as Chief of Oncology Services and Chair of Thoracic Surgery with Saint Thomas Health (Nashville, TN), and as a professor in the Department of Clinical Medical Education at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center. He also served as medical director and co-chair for the Ascension Oncology Service Line in 2019-2020, and president of the American College of Chest Physicians in 2023. Dr. Howington is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and American College of Chest Physicians. He is a member of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, Society of Thoracic Surgery and International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. He has been listed in ""Best Doctors in America"" for many years and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals.
