Dr. John Gabriel Issa, MD

SELF-ABSORBED NEGLIGENCE My mother is currently a patient at the horrible, medieval Los Alamitos medical center. Dr. Issa is currently the on-call physician. She is severely dehydrated due to Dr. Joe Chien and Vu Phan failing to communicate a delay in procedure that forced her to suffer over 20 hours with no food, no water and no IV. It hurts her to eat or drink. We have requested an IV this afternoon prior to another procedure tomorrow. DR. ISSA AND DR. CHEN ARE BOTH REFUSING TO BE THE ONE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY TO SAY THE IV IS APPROVED. Neither will communicate a medical reason. When advised that it hurts her to eat or drink,Dr. Issa’s response is to tell her to drink anyway. Dr. Chen’s flippant response was, “Well she ate this weekend, right?” She is elderly, with a poor prognosis. IT IS CLEAR THAT THEY HAVE NO CONCERN FOR PATIENT WELFARE OR FOR TREATING PEOPLE WITH DIGNITY.

One star is too good for this man. I won't even refer to him as a doctor. He attended my Mother at Los Alamitos Medical Center referred by Dr Weisch. Mother had been admitted with a diagnosis of double pneumonia and given Zerthromyacin IV in the ER. The following morning found her remarkably improved and it appeared there would be a positive outcome THEN Dr Issa took over her case and she ended up in ICU that afternoon followed by her medication being turned to generic: given a heavy duty diuretic and denied any fluids at all. Thinking this a very temporary thing to relieve her system of excess fluid I said nothing but neither did DR Issa. As more time went by I tried to access him to determine what was happening and he NEVER talked to me ONCE. The nurse told me he was sitting right next to her one time I called and refused my fall. I then realized Mother was receiving no liquids or nourishment of any kind...still no communication then they intubated her so she couldn't… speak and restrained her so she couldn't tear out her tubes. The one time I confronted a doctor caring for her I was told to leave him alone and let him do his job. Only the nurses spoke to me and they gave me positive reports. I had become upset over what was happening and tried to get another doctor on her case but no one would do that. Finally, my personal doctor, who wasn't on staff there, sent a specialist to check on her. The day he was there I was told Mother was doing much better and would be off the ventilator the next day. She was because she died two hours after they told me that. After all was over I got her medical records and the lady in records told me to do what I had to do about the DR that it wouldn't hel;p my Mother but could hel;p others. Oh and in those records was the report of the specialist my personal doctor sent. It read "Prognosis poor. Family needs to be talked to." No doctor ever spoke to me or gave me information about Mother. If I had it to do over I would take her out of that place and get her to where she would have had proper care. In my opinion the care DR Issa gave her contributed to her death.

Worst medical experience of my life! He was the “hospitalist” covering for my internal medicine physician. He never examined me and barely talked with me. He just doesn’t seem to care.

HE NEVER TALKS TO HIS PATIENTS< HE MAKES ROUNDS AND JUST MUMBLES FOR FEW SECONDS AND LEAVES WITHOUT ANSWERING QUESTIONS> HE IS THE WORST MD EVER

Dr. Issa was the assigned hospitalist for my mother at Memorial hospital. He was caring and helpful as well as on top of her condition. He assisted in placing her into a fantastic short term rehab.

Dr Issa would not return any phone calls and spent about 1 minute with my father while in the hospital. He walked into my father's hospital room and told him the MRI was negative then turned around and walked out. My father is 86 years old and was on heavy pain medication. We never got an actual diagnosis on my fathers severe pain. Issa told my father he had vertigo. My father could not even sit up in bed and a discharge person came in saying Issa is sending him home with my 80 year old mother. He never bothered to speak with any of us or listen to any of our questions and concerns. This doctor clearly walks into patients rooms, checks it off his list and collect his money. He is the most uncaring, complacent doctor I have ever met. Luckily we fought to get my father into the acute care facility where he was cared for and given physical and occupational therapy he so clearly needed. We will never allow this doctor near our father again. Upon discharge, Issa sent a nurse in to ask… my father what medications he will be needing when he leaves. Really?? Should the doctor be telling my father what he needs, not asking him? Unbelievable that this guy is even working in a hospital. Absolutely terrible experience with Dr John Issa. NEVER AGAIN

He seemed rushed, and it was easy to see that he didn't want to be there. He visited me once a day for about 4 days, and he didn't spend more than 30 seconds with me each time. Definitely the worst bed-side manner I've ever seen.

DR Issa was the referred DR to care for my Mother in the hospital. He communicated with me ONCE over the phone and told me nothing I could understand. For the duration of her stay I did not see him nor did he speak to me again even tho I put in numerous calls for him and was told once by the nurse he was sitting right beside her and said to tell me he would call me back... he didn't. While my Mother's condition went from bad to worse and I frantically tried to get another DR put on her case there was no communication and the night she died I was actually told, by a nurse, she had improved to the point that she could well be off the ventilator the following morning and on the mend. Two hours later the call came she was dying. I got to the hospital too late to see her alive again. In reviewing her medical records later I discovered the last DR to examine my Mother entered "prognosis poor family needs to be talked to". This happened the same day she died. I have nothing good to… say about the care this man gave my mother and actually feel he and others he had on her case were responsible for her death. I saw nothing of the kind, caring man the other post spoke of.

Caring, honest, and knowledgeable
