Dr. John Eric Jacoby, MD

I was severly disappointed by my appointment at Dr. John E. Jacoby's office today. Not only did I have to wait an hour and fifteen minutes before I was seen, but when I finally was, I was met with a doctor that truly didn't care about the patients well being. I scheduled this appointment because I just moved to New York and I began having back and leg pain. After paying cash for an MRI because my insurance had not started, it showed a herniated disc. I scheduled an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon but, unfortunately, an appointment like that can't happen immediately. In the mean time, I scheduled an appoint with this doctor and he says that he doesn't prescribe pain medications because "its all political now" and "he's never been in trouble because of that type of thing before, he just doesn't do it". While I understand there are addicts that seek pain meds, this scenario didnt seem much like that. He told me there was nothing he could do for, gave me the number of a pain… management doctor (which I don't need because I am seeking surgical treatment), and told me if I wanted medication I should go to an emergency room. What kind of doctor does nothing and tells someone to go to an emergency room for a NON EMERGENCY problem? Real professional! I am a new patient who is in legitimate pain, has proof of a problem, and was seeking help for the 2 weeks until my orthopedic appointment. Instead I left feeling more in pain and more upset than when I entered the building. This guy just wants to make a little pathetic paycheck and doesn't truly care about a Hippocratic oath at all. I would not have any of my family member or friends go to him. Side Note: The office is filthy as well.

I have been a patient of Dr. Jacoby's for many years. His diagnostic ability is top notch. He is an excellent family doctor who appears to be genuinely concerned. Getting an appointment has never been a problem. It is worth noting that his staff is both professional and steady. It speaks to me a lot about a person when his staff sticks with him.
