Dr. John Young Yul Kwon, MD

I am so thankful I was able to go this practice. From the obviously first class diagnostic x ray to Patrick the excellent PA to Dr Kwon I felt immediately taken care of with the most excellent resources attitude and experience. Background and why I am so thankful: I went to a podiatrist for a simple orthotic insert and had a wrong diagnosis with unnecessary requirement for a boot. Thank goodness I knew to get a better capable opinion. I could have easily had a ruined summer. No doubt there are times they have to prescribe a boot but rest assured- it will be necessary if that happens!

Dr. Kwon has been so incredible. I’ve had two surgeries under his care, and aside from his remarkable work as a surgeon, he truly makes you feel that you’re heard and cared for. In a world, where doctors usually spend appointments typing at a screen, it’s nice to have someone look you in the assure that you’re healing and doing well. He truly cares for his patients. After a string of bad experiences with other orthopedists, I am lucky to have found a caring and skilled doctor. He is highly in demand, so you may have to wait at appointments. But rest assured that he will be present and ensure that you receive the best care and make the medical decision that works for you.

I was referred to Dr. Kwon at BI by NEBH for surgery for my bimalleolar ankle fracture. I had had a bad experience at a local south shore hospital (discharged at ER, no follow up call for appointment with a surgeon, when I finally got an apt the surgeon made me feel like he didn't really care or have a stake in my full recovery) so when I finally met with Dr. Kwon 3 days after my injury I was so relieved at his reassuring bedside manner. I told him that I am a horse-back rider and being able to ride and compete again was the upmost importance to me. Dr. Kwon made me feel like he would do everything possible to make that happen for me. I loved his logical, science based approach to making decisions with me regarding my care. I was very lucky and my surgery and recovery went extremely well. In all of my follow up apts Dr. Kwon took the time to answer any and all of my questions. He's a good human being. It's been over a year and a half since the surgery and my ankle feels great. I was… back riding about 4 months after my surgery and have also gotten back into running again. I attribute this to the wondering staff at BI and Dr. Kwon and the rest of his team. Seriously, so grateful he was my surgeon and I can't recommend him enough.

Dr John Kwon is the most compassionate, competent, most knowledgeable orthopedic surgeon you will ever meet. He has performed two surgeries on both my feet. Dr Kwon is a doctor I can’t say enough about. The kindness, compassion and respect he has shown me is worth a million dollars. He has been extremely articulate, shown compassion and kindness during these difficult, intricate and complicated surgeries. A true professional. I was in a head-on collision in 1990. When I met Dr Kwon for the first time in 2011, he discovered a lisfrance fracture that the doctors missed. He operated on my foot and now I can honestly say that the pain I had been dealing with all the years, thanks to Dr Kwon and his magical hands, is now completely gone. Beth Israel Hospital is extremely lucky to have a surgeon of his caliber on their staff. He he ever left, I would definitely follow him when needed. Nancy Shoucair .

4 years ago I had a bad skateboard accident resulting in a swollen ankle my whole high school career, I went through so many doctors and years of pain. I never thought I would be able to walk comfortably again. This doctor saved my life from misery, I never thought my foot would be the same. I'm 20 years old now, currently recovering from my surgery yesterday,. Dr. Kwon is the kindest and most knowledgable surgeon you will ever meet. A gift from heaven for me.

It is a calling to become a surgeon and Dr. Kwon has truly been called. In addition to being on top of his academic and surgical skills game at an early stage of his career, he is genuine, kind, thoughtful, caring, patient and compassionate. This collection of attributes are rarely found in a top surgeon. Dr. Kwon is by far the best orthopedic surgeon who has ever treated me! If it weren't for his expertise, I would not be walking agin.

Dr. Kwon is one of the best doctors I have ever been to. He is patient, polite, cordial, and listens to you. His staff are fabulous as well! :)

Dr Kwon is the best doctor in town . He is very kind and listens to my concerns with my problem . I tell all my friends to go to him .

I cannot say enough about Dr Kwon and his staff! Except exceptional superb phenomenal!I was Mis-diagnosed by a doctor in March, and have been out of work on comp since that time I was sent back to work three days a week a week 4 hours a day with a Mis-diagnosed ankle injury. My workmanship comp case manager finally sent me to see Dr Kwan who ordered emergency MRI and found that I had severely torn and blown tendons in my ankle. He said to me " I normally don't talk about surgery on the first visit, but this should have been operated on months ago". I am now one week post op and already feeling better. I know there is a long road ahead of me, but there will be a great team there with me
