Dr. John David Lehman, MD

Please do not go to this doctor. And if you do, please get a second opinion. I am now facing a possible amputation because of him. I had an injury that caused fluid retention in my ankle joint. He drained it twice doing “exploratory surgery”. He ignored and undermined my pain level and misdiagnosed me. I ended up with an infection that ate away at my cartilage and left me with bone on bone arthritis. I am only 30 years old and have had now 10 surgeries. He never referred me and never consulted with another doctor. After six days of being admitted to the hospital, I took my scans and left seeming care elsewhere but it was too late. He never took me seriously and because of that, it has now effected my entire life. I have a full ankle fusion at 30 years old and can no longer run, jump or do high impact activities. Please seek additional opinions before letting him perform surgery!

He did a great job. I had a bad shoulder injury and helped me recover and get back to work.

I lived with the debilitating pain of extreme carpal tunnel in both wrists, until I found Dr. Lehman. It's been about 5 years since my surgery and I could not be happier. I haven't experienced even one negative side effect or issue from my surgery. I don't even have a visible scar. I cannot imagine how my quality of life would be, if I had not been fortunate to find Dr. Lehman. I no longer live in the area, but if ever need an Orthopedic Surgeon in the future, I would gladly drive the 2 hours to see Dr. Lehman again.

Unfortunately I was saddled with this clown following a severe motor vehicle accident in Beaver County. Lehman was arrogant, rude, and condescending. He also showed total incompetence when he failed to recognize a deep vein clot in my leg and ordered emergency care only after I demanded it (unknown to him I too am a physician & surgeon). His treatment for the acute pain of multiple injuries including fractures was Advil. His reaction to my claustrophobia in an MRI tube was sarcasm. As a decorated Vietnam vet and ex-tunnel rat, I owe this jerk no explanation. John Lehman is a disgrace to the medical community and should not be practicing medicine. As a surgical residency board member in Youngstown, I would have thrown him out of our program.

Had surgery about a year ago was cleared to go back to work, few months later pain came back worse then before. Went back to see the doc again sent me for MRI I picked up results my self since took 2 weeks for his office to call me said nothing is wrong, but don't have pain for no reason my opinion find another dr. Or get a seconed opinion. I am in 2 weeks and by the way my MRI results say they see few abnormal things wrong. Hope this helps

I agree with the other review. This Dr. is a jerk and has no bedside manner. Will not spend time with you and has no sense of humor. In my case he acts like he does not know what the problem is. Seeking another opinion. Been in pain for a year under this Dr.'s care.

Being arrogant and condescending is not helpful or beneficial; there are many well-trained physicians to choose from today, one with a personality disorder or attitude problem is to be avoided. Lehman is regularly 30-45 minutes late, does a minimal exam, makes sarcastic remarks, and has a condescending demeanor. Even with good insurance coverage, his attitude is that he is doing you a favor and that he is superior; he has no sense of humor and provides no solace. His results from what I saw were acceptable but his attitude is the deal breaker. Find another orthopedist, this one is a first class jerk, it's no wonder that he does not have many patients. You can do much better than having Lehman in your corner during a stressful time.

Not only was the good doctor able to fix the bone to heal appropriately, he provided results that showed no break even occurred- no tell tale bump, and an even appearance with it's mirror image bone on the other side of my body. His post office follow ups were thorough and professional, yet not stuffy nor condescending as with some Heritage Valley physicians.
