Dr. John Richard Lilly, MD

I had been having some of the worst shoulder pain I could imagine for over a year. I came in to see Doctor Lilly after reading some of the reviews online. He spent time giving me a very accurate diagnosis on my torn ligaments in my shoulder. He referred me to go to Cam Physical Therapy near his office. After about 8 weeks of therapy, the pain is almost completely gone. Doctor Lilly's diagnosis was spot on, and he referred me to the right place. Doctor Lilly's bedside manor and vast general medical knowledge is why I will be coming back. They don't make doctors like him anymore.

I saw Dr. Richard Lilly in his Hyattsville office for my leg pain. After I filled out my paperwork, I first met with Dr Lilly's assistant Tiffany. She was very nice and she helped me understand how I may have broken my leg. DR Lilly

This doctor refuses to give me my pain medication, when I have degenerative arthritis that is progressively getting worse. I have asked him several times to do a lower lumbar xray for my spine so he can see my arthritis and he refuses and makes up excuses on why he cannot fill them. The reason I am on prescription narcotics for my arthritis is because I have chronic Kidney disease and cannot take anti-inflammatory medicines for pain management. I have told him he can do drug tests, pill counts every week and still refuses. I do not suggest this doctor to anyone with chronic back or neck pain.

This doctor's office is amazing. Dr. Lilly is the Best Doctor in the county. He is very professional as well as the staff. He treats Police Officers, County Executives and even the governor of Maryland. Well known and is on the Board of Physicians. I would high reccommend him to anyone. The staff is courtous and always willing to help.

I have known Dr. Lilly since 1973. He delivered four of my children. Two of those children were identical twin girls. Their birth was a training session for a new doctor. He said, "there is something wrong with this chord". Dr. Lilly replied, "we have another baby". Clear this room now, he commanded. All persons evacuated in 10 seconds. The doctor and his surgical nurse delivered Baby B. Daddy fainted! They propped him up in a corner and gave all focus to the second baby. I had a visit while recovering in my room. Dr. Lilly sat on the bottom of my bed and said "you have two beautiful baby girls". I questioned, "are they OK"? He countered, "they are doing fine now, but watch them". He did not have the technology we have today, only his knowledge and experience. That baby is now (30 yrs. age) having liver issues and is being treated with chemo and vitamin B12 injections. He knew something wasn't quite right, but chose not to worry me. He gave me four cases of diapers and lots of… encouragement. Dr. Lilly has cared for three generations in my family. He was my mothers medical care provider and she waited on him at the club where he was a member. He kept my asthmatic daughter from becoming an inpatient numerous times. When I viewed the photo of the Hyattsville office, I became homesick. We live on the Eastern Shore now, but we still miss him. He is the best doctor I have ever encountered and has remarkable instincts. For you newbies -- IGNORE THE OFFICE STAFF -- it has always been a chore to deal with them. Once you get past the office staff, you are in safe territory. Take a good book. or paperwork. The wait is well worth it. YOU ARE IN EXCEPTIONAL HANDS with Dr. Lilly. Ask the Governer (sp).

The wait time is terribe ... its like going to the emergency room ... look else where

The doctors and nurses are fine... when you eventually get to see them. Today I have dialled consistently for 40 minutes just to get a prescription refill. Nobody answers the phone. The last time I went in to pick up my prescription I was ignored by the front desk person for about 10 minutes then she grudgingly looked at me and said 'Yeah?' then it was just attitude attitude attitude and of course the prescription which I'd been told would be there wasn't. I am really tired of this fight to make an appointment, fight to get seen when I arrive, fight to pick up my prescription. Where do they hire these people? Well over the rudeness and inefficiency.

I have been going to Dr. Lilly's Hyattsville Office for many years, Dr. Lilly is a great doctor, but I can't say much for his front office staff, rude would cover most of the verbs I could use. Some of the nurses are good, and treat you kind, others not. I can say the wait is long but to see Dr. Lilly I will wait.
