Dr. John Tsunglin Tong, MD

Dr. Tong did our 6 month old’s ptosis surgery and we cannot recommend him enough. We flew to Texas from Florida just for him and he and his team were helpful from the start. They all went above and beyond to accommodate us knowing we were from out of town & Dr. Tong took the time to walk us through every option we had, possible outcomes & answered all the questions we had thoroughly and didn’t make us feel rushed. Once surgery day came, the process was smooth and he and his team held our hands through the entire process and made us feel more at ease handing our baby over for surgery. He personally called us after the surgery to check in on our son and make sure he was feeling alright. Two days after surgery, once healing started, we saw such a huge difference in his eye. Dr. Tong did such a good job that the bruising which is expected to last several weeks is already almost gone in less than 2 weeks, no additional bleeding, and the swelling has been minimal. Looking at new photos… compared to previous ones is night and day, with our sons eyelid being almost even with his “good eye”. We are so, so thankful for Dr. Tong helping our baby see correctly again and we would 100% travel to him a million times over again!

Dr. Tong is a great child Ophthalmologist! My daughter had 2 chalazions in each eye and he performed the surgery for us. He did such a wonderful job, hardly any bruising or swelling at all and her eyes are back to normal. We had visited another doctor prior in the area and his bedside manner did not compare to Dr. Tong and the surgery he did for one chalazion left her eye swollen and still not completely cleaned out. We are thankful that we have found Dr. Tong for my daughter's eye care needs. Thank you.

Our experience with Dr. Tong was amazing! He is very personable, kind, concerned about his patients, knowledgeable and talented in his profession. We went to see Dr. Tong after a year of seeing other doctors. Last year, my son was accidentally stabbed with a blue colored pencil in his orbital rim (the area right below his eye). My son is 9 and very aware of what surgery is. I loved the fact that Dr. Tong spent so much of the visit with us. He explained the whole procedure in detail and assured my son when he was nervous. Dr. Tong removed about an inch of dark, dark blue tissue from my son's orbital rim. He did this all with no visible stitches on his face. He was able to go in through the back of his bottom eyelid. He is absolutely remarkable! My son no longer has a dark blue spot on his face that looks like a black eye and, on top of that, he has no scarring. We are so grateful for Dr. Tong!
