Dr. Jonathan Wayne Benjamin, MD

Great doctor , very knowledgeable, listens to what you have to say , explains everything, not an alarmist , very calm doctor- apologizes if he is running a bit behind . I have been using him for many years and have been extremely happy .

I am very appreciative for the excellent care provided by Dr. Benjamin. He has been my ophthalmologist for many years and recently performed cataract surgery on me. He always takes the time to listen my concerns and answer my questions. He thoroughly explained the rationale for and details of my surgery to me. I knew what to expect and he put me as ease. He is easy going and I enjoy his sense of humor. I highly recommend Dr. Benjamin, an excellent physician who really cares for his patients.

Dr. Benjamin was informative and caring. He understood my concerns and we discussed them openly and freely. Extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk to.

Dr. Benjamin was very kind to my son during his exam and explained everything to me regarding my sons vision.

This practice robbed me of my vision and my money. Dr. Benjamin “appears” knowledgeable and caring but that is NOT the case. He makes promises he does not keep, the staff has no idea what they are talking about and often steer you in a very wrong direction, they keep you waiting sometimes over 2 ½ hours for an appointment, they are totally NOT upfront about surgical requirements and expenses and try to make you feel like something is wrong with you when you ask a question. They double bill for cataract surgery and get away with it because the doctor is one expense and the surgical center is another. The surgical center is unorganized and inefficient and lied to me on two occasions. They convince you to have cataract surgery paired with a LASIK procedure ($3.000 not covered by insurance) to correct astigmatism, but my astigmatism has barely improved. I would not recommend Dr. Benjamin or South Shore Eye Care to anyone for any reason.

Dr. Benjamin is great with children. My son smiled from ear to ear while being examined. My first visit was an emergency for a corneal abrasion and the wait was very long but I was still pleased after the care we received. The follow up visit was quick and equally as amusing for my son.

Dr. Luchs is a terrible communicator. I asked him several times about a test I knew I needed for corrective eye surgery. He never answered me. I found out from his staff that he noted on my record to schedule the test on the next apt. I will never go back to him.

You will wait forever to see him. Once you see him he's downright strange. He is not professional at all. What an experience
