Provided excellent care and hopefully a referral for my hand asnd wrist.

My dad suffered extensive trauma to his dominant hand after a crush injury. Dr. Ludwig saw him and was extremely thorough. He took lots of time with him, listened to all of his concerns and carefully considered an appropriate plan of care that addressed each of his many existing co-morbidities. My dad has poorly controlled diabetes, pancytopenia, history of radiation for cancer treatment, chronic lung disease, CHF, heart disease, just to name a few. Dr. Ludwig took his time explaining the surgery that was needed to repair the damage to his hand, what MAC anesthesia entailed to be able to prevent intubation during surgery and any prolonged intubation after surgery due to pre-existing disease and/or complications, and the extensive rehab that would be required after surgery in order to regain as much range of motion back as possible. We understood it would be a slower recovery due both to the type of injury as well as my dad’s diabetes. The staff coordinated everything with… physical therapy and occupational therapy to ensure rehab went smoothly. It has now been a couple months since surgery and Dad’s hand is healing nicely and he is still doing the exercises he was taught and managing his diet/diabetes better in order to have the best outcome in the long run. We are forever grateful to Dr. Ludwig and his staff for taking care of my dad.

This Dr took the time to listen to what was going on and then explain options on how to correct. Very personable with a staff that is equally supportive.

Those 15 minute time slots are crucial to our existence. Our treatment plan that will impact every day of our lives is made in less time than it takes to cook a frozen pizza. We take those 15 minutes and we turn them into 20. We bring our notebook with questions, a copy of the most recent medical trials in our community and our own ideas about treatment. And we are shunned. We are the bad patients. The patient who may spend the majority of their life in excruciating pain; isolated from loved ones is no longer viewed a person, they are viewed as a problem. Had hand surgery last year. I'm disabled and treated like a druggie. Receptionist Angie was very rude and unhelpful. Diagnosed with CRPS at Vanderbilt almost a year later.
