My husband and I met with Dr. Raanan today to discuss my husbands newly diagnosed herniated cervical disc. Dr. Raanan was friendly and thorough and spent a lot of time with us discussing the injury itself and going over the images to put things into perspective. He answered all our questions and we are confident in his approach to make invasive procedures or surgery a last result

Dr. Raanan is a very competent physiatrist. He does everything he can to eliminate pain. He does not give up. I had several procedures with him and each time I felt a little better. I strongly recommend him to anyone suffering from back pain.

I am very impressed with Dr. Raanan. He is very caring and doing all he can to alleviate my chronic back pain. I truly believe he will succeed. He really cares about his patients. I give him 5 stars!

Dr. Raanan took a great deal of time with me and explained EVERYTHING. He asked me to get records from previous doctors I had seen and suggested a different approach to alleviate my pain. I am very pleased.

Firstly, Dr. Raanan is a caring compassionate doctor. He makes me feel that he genuinely cares about my well being and is trying to help. I waited 20-30 minutes to be seen. When I was seen everything was explained to me and I was given instructions to go home with. When I had my injection I felt that it had been explained to me and I knew what to expect (and it helped). I can't speak for others but I was glad that I was able to see the doctor before my injection so I could be part of the decision making process. Thank you Dr. Raanan for making me feel better.

Staff is extremely rude. Staff never returns phone calls. I will find a new doctor to administer epidurals.

Dr raanan is a wonderful doctor, but the clinical assistant Michelle that works for him is a nightmare. She is rude and not very helpful. She does not give him messages. You know this because you call with a problem and he never calls you back. Michelle will give you the next available appointment which could be 8-10 weeks away. Someone needs to remind her she is NOT A NURSE.!! I am a nurse and work for doctors in stony brook and if a patient calls with a problem we ask the doctor if they can be added on THAT DAY

Thought he was great. Shots in lower back lasted 3-4 yrs. Going back soon.

Dr. Raanan provides little to no warning of aftereffects caused from epidural spinal/muscle injections. He had me laid out on the floor in pain after injcections without any warning and did not seem surprised when I told him about it. Getting an appointment is extremely inconvenient. You have to see him first for the consultation, and then schedule the actual injections but you don't know the actual time of the appointment until the day before. That and the fact that they require you have someone else drive you home after the procedure makes it extremely difficult to manage, especially if you have kids that will need a babysitter. I did this twice and got no relief from my chronic back pain. I then found another doctor that does not follow any of these extrememly invonvenient measures and got the relief I searched for after the first visit. Do yourself a favor and AVOID DOCTOR JONATHAN RAANAN.
