Dr. Jonathon Lober Gross, MD

The reviews of Dr Gross show an average wait time of 12 minutes to see him. This is completely unrealistic, based on several visits to him over 3-4 years. By mid-afternoon, wait times are typically 1.5 to 2 hours, and even on one visit where I was the first patient in the morning, I still waited an hour after the scheduled appointment time for him to show up. Tucson Eye Care routinely overbooks the doctors, and if you call before coming to find out if they are running late they tell you that even if they are late you need to come in at the scheduled time and they will cancel you otherwise. In other words, patient waiting time is of no concern to this practice. Dr. Gross himself is very quiet, not especially empathetic and not a great communicator. However he seems competent and usually gives reasonable-sounding advice. I don't know about his surgical skills because my eye surgeries have been done elsewhere. The office staff are nice enough, but as mentioned, don't care at… all about patient wait times.

Dr. Gross takes his time to explain things to you - a rare "gift" in these times when most doctors rush through exams/explanations... I followed him from his former place of practice (in Tucson) when he opened his own practice several years ago ...my wife now also sees him for her eye problems.
