Raised in rural Iowa, he has always appreciated the benefits of living in smaller communities and hoped to one day practice in a place like the Upper Peninsula. "I know from my own family's experience the challenge of finding specialty care in smaller communities, and I'm glad to be able to offer gastroenterology care to our community without traveling hundreds of miles.""Dr. Schwake attended medical school at the University of Iowa, Carver College of Medicine before completing his residency (internal medicine) and fellowship (gastroenterology) at the San Antonio Military Medical Center.""Medicine is often a confusing and stressful area of life for most people.
