Dr. Jordi Xirinachs Kellogg, MD

I decided to have a follow-up X-ray/MRI/visit on my L4/L5/S1 fusion from 3 1/2 years ago. The MRI from almost 4 years ago showed the 2 discs pretty much dead and the L3/L4 disc not as strong as the rest of the discs in my spine. The current MRI showed all the hardware still perfectly intact, the reconstruction of the 2 dead discs looked really good and the L3/L4 disc seemed to look even better than the previous MRI. After surgery (I was 47 the day of) I had the unexpected dream I would feel 25 again and pain free. For me it took a little time post surgery, but I can absolutely certainly say I am still so much better today than before surgery. The pressure on my nerve has been lifted so much. Before surgery the sharp pain immobilized me quite often and even had me on crutches at times to try to help alleviate the pain. I am almost 51 and still able to do more than when I was in my mid-40s, when I was struggling quite often. I can consider my situation a success story. There may… be an if/when time to fuse the L3/L4 in the future (current MRI shows that time isn’t now) and I will have Dr. Kellogg do that surgery, if he hasn’t retired by the time I need it.

He has taken care of my back since 2008 and always is thorough and professional. I would recommend him to my people.

This office was so great! I though Omar and Dr. Kellogg gave incredible care and Jackie was phenomenal I don’t believe for a second I would’ve had my surgery without her fighting for me every step of the way! This place treats you like family

my hands hurt so bad that I couldn't sleep and I had to set in a chair all night. after weeks of pain I was sent to dr. Kellogg by my doctor at the Adventist hospital. Kellogg looked at my hands and said he could fix this in 10 minutes. that was 7 years ago and no problems and no pain pills ever. great guy, greatdoctor.

Dr. Kellogg is one of the best Doctors I have seen in my entire life. He took the time to get to know me and show me where my problem areas were. His medical assistant Sandy was truly amazing, she helped me so much and really went the extra mile to help me with their portal. I would also like to say that his surgery scheduler was so compassionate and nurturing through my whole surgery process. The only down fall I had with this office was my initial scheduling to see Dr. Kellogg. While scheduling my appointment, I felt very be littled and talking down to. The tone was rough and rude, While arriving to the office I could tell off the bat who had scheduled me and I was not pleased. I did state to the medical assistant about my concern when I was pulled back. Other then that hick-up. This doctor will change your life. I appreciate you all and thank you so much for your continuing care.

Dr. Kellogg listens and understands your pain. He is not one of those that immediately rushes into surgery. He takes his time with you and makes sure you have exhausted all other options and that you fully understand what his next plan of action is. He is caring and helps you proceed with the next step. His office staff is very caring and understandable also.

Dr. Kellogg is a skilled surgeon. He is am man of very few words. He will give you the fact of what is going on with your case but not much more. If you are someone that needs to talk things through that he is not the doctor for you. I injured my back in 2012 and have had lower back and leg pain since. the pain went away the day of surgery. I found Jackie to be very helpful when I did have issues and easy to talk to. I think Dr. Kellogg is a very busy surgeon and leaves the details to Jackie and his PA. I am very happy with my results.

Dr. Kellogg gave me my quality of life back. He was very thorough, kind and explained things so that I was able to understand easily. I am able to get up and walk around now without any pain and I am so thrilled...I just can't say enough good thinsgs.

Very companionate when other were not

one of the single most frustrating and confusing appointments I have ever experienced. First off my appointment was at 2 p.m. and I arrived 20 minutes early to fill out paperwork. By 2:40 I was still sitting in the waiting room with no communication from the staff telling me why the appointment was so late. I approached the desk and they told me he was in surgery and it would be a while longer. I said I totally understood and asked it was an emergency surgery. They said no it was a regularly planned surgery and that he has been back and forth between surgery and office visits all day. I asked if it was because the surgery was running late and they shook their head no. I kind of had the urge to leave at that point because I thought it was so unprofessional and disrespectful of my time but I had waited a long time to get in to see him and was anxious to solve my back issues. About an hour after my appointment time they finally called me back to a room. I waited for about 5 or 10… minutes for the tech to come in and take my information and then I waited over 20 minutes for the PA to come in and do an assessment and ask me questions. She apologized for the long wait but seemed disjointed - not really listening and asking me the same questions over and over like she didn't hear my first answer. Two hours past the appointment time I finally saw the doctor. He viewed my MRI for the first time while I was there. On a side note, because I took care of both my parents with lung cancer, I'm used to doing a lot of research and being informed whenever I go to see a doctor. Because of this I knew a lot of the names for the complex terms of what I was dealing with but the average person probably would not know that. Dr. Kellogg talked very fast, used very complex terms, moved very quickly through my MRI - assuming that someone who doesn't view MRIs on a regular basis would know exactly what he was talking about. He went from saying I didn't need surgery to maybe i did - and at the same time asking if I really wanted someone cutting on me . Then when I asked him about my spinal cyst - he acted unconcerned at first and then at a closer look started pointing out a white spot within the cyst. He kept asking me "do you see that?" I said "yes I do." Then he pointed it out in another view and asked me the same thing again. He turned and asked his PA for the report from the imaging company and after reading it totally change the subject and never said anything about it again. Long story short there, there were more concerning and confusing things during the meeting but probably more than you want to know at this point. At the end I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt and ask him if he was exhausted from all the surgeries. He said no he felt great. I have to tell you that I don't usually write reviews - but I felt compelled to do so because I don't want to see anyone else go through what I went through. I'm kind of hanging with one of the previous reviewers that something may be contributing to his terrible and confusing bedside manner. My neice recommended him and things went smoothly for her. So I am at a loss why things went the way they did with me. But I am not willing to gamble whether he will have an off day with something this important.
