When you become a doctor, you take an oath to do no harm. My husband had a cervical disc replacement scheduled for 12/14/23, on 12/13/23 the office calls to say that the insurance denied the procedure because they were questioning the procedure in some way, but of course wouldn't give me details. Mind you, the decision to operate was made on 11/6, and our insurance didn't get the prior auth until 11/29 (why?!) I called the insurance, they told me that a peer review could maybe be done same day if the doctor requested "urgent", I called the office back, to see why they couldn't request an urgent review - for multiple reasons - 1) my husband has been in pain forever an a day, & has been pushing passed pain to work, 2) time off work was already set up as well as a post-op care team - I was told Dr. Jimenez is out on a personal day, was already spoken to, and he stated he could not do the peer review until 12/15, after which they would let us know when surgery could happen. New doc pls!
