Dr. J. R. Cali is an exceptional surgeon. He is very compassionate and makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. On my initial visit I was very impressed that he asked if it was okay to pray with me. I have been a Christian all my life and was touched by this. He also prayed with me and my family just before I was taken to the operating room. On my 2 week postsurgical follow-up visit today, the waiting room was full and we all agreed that Dr. Cali is the best there is. None of us minded the longer than usual wait time because we know how great Dr. Cali is. I highly recommend him without reservation.

I first met Dr Joseph Cali 17 years ago after I had consulted with 2 other well known colon and rectal surgeons in Houston. The first two experiences with the other doctors did not go well. They did not believe me, and they said my symptoms were "imagined" and that I was "mistaken". I left and lived with the symptoms for 6 months longer, when I found Dr Cali. His exam did not revel the issue, however he DID listen and believed me. He performed exploratory surgery and FOUND the issue and fixed it. He is an amazing Surgeon, and Human Being. He will ask you if you would like to pray before your surgery, and he prays for all his patients daily. You can't find a better clinician with such a great bedside manner, and Dr. Joseph R. Cali, Jr. (JR) is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

Dr. Cali was referred to me by another Doctor who recommended I see a surgeon. After Dr. Cali reviewed my records he didn’t think I needed surgery. After 2 colonoscopys I am doing great! He has great bedside manners. He even prayed for me before the procedure. Great Doctor!!

He is the best doctor and surgeon out there. He has excellent bedside manner & more importantly surgeon skills. He has saved my life multiple times over 13 years. I owe everything to him. He realized something was wrong when no one else did. He is also very caring and knowledgeable. He treats all his patients with respect and kindness. There is a reason why so many people love him and he is given so many awards. I definitely recommend him and have recommended him to family friends who have also admired him and his work. He is truly a gift from God.

Dr. Cali is one of the best Dr.'s I have ever had the privilege to meet. His bedside manner makes you feel as if you were part of his family. He takes the time to perform the correct testing to show you what he is actually thinking about. He shows you every detail of what your issue is and what he can do to help you. If you have questions he takes the time to answer them in a way that you can actually understand. He calms you from fears that you may have by knowing the answer to any of your questions. I just can not say enough as to the type of man Dr. Cali is. I feel so safe under his care.

Doctor Cali is beyond amazing. I went through a series of surgeries and complications and he was at the hospital everyday I was there checking on me and making sure I got the best possible care! He cares about the patient as well as the entire family!

He IS wonderful, sure cannot understand why a nice guy like this is in THIS profession, but it takes a special person I guess cause its not an exam one wants to go through unless necessary
