Review of Dr. Joseph Katta, MD – A Cautionary Experience I accompanied a friend and his wife to Dr. Joseph Katta’s office for a scheduled colonoscopy. The procedure itself went as expected. He experienced the usual post-procedure symptoms such as mild bleeding, disorientation, and discomfort, which were within the normal range of recovery. However, the follow-up experience raised several concerns. A post-procedure appointment was scheduled to review his results, but upon arrival, he was informed the appointment was mistakenly set at a different office location. The appointment had to be rescheduled for the following week. When he returned, he waited to be seen, only to be told he must pay a co-pay in order to receive his test results. He was informed that the results were abnormal, yet the office refused to provide a report until the co-pay was made. They instead said they would send the results to his primary care physician. This policy seems questionable—akin to having your car… diagnosed for issues, paying for the diagnostic service, and then being told you must pay an additional fee just to learn what the problem is. While Dr. Katta’s office claims to accept insurance from 42 providers, it raises concerns about potential overbilling or “double-dipping”—charging once for the procedure and again simply to communicate the results. An additional concern was a posted sign in the lobby indicating that the practice does not carry malpractice insurance. While this may be legal in Florida, it is disconcerting for patients and undermines trust in the accountability of care. As of this writing, my friend is still waiting to meet with his primary doctor to receive the official report. The stress and anxiety of not knowing the severity of a potentially serious health condition have been considerable. Bottom line: Be cautious—very cautious—before choosing this practice. While the medical procedure was handled professionally, the post-care process left much to be desired in terms of transparency, communication, and patient support.

It has taken a YEAR for me to try to get this practice to bill me correctly. I have had them on a 3 way call with my insurance company explaining to them that EVERYTHING is covered and how to bill me correctly. They continued to bill me incorrectly. Today, a year later, I get a bill and they finally billed me with my correct insurance but they are still coming up with some faux charge they threw in to still collect money from my end that my insurance will not cover. I guess there is a point when one throws their hands in the air and says screw it, you win. I will give them their money, but not without letting it be known how crooked and stupid they are.

Administrative staff is terrible....don't return calls, they are abrupt and careless. Doctor didn't get back to me with MRi results. Even worse, they dropped ball before a diagnosis.i have been involved with this office for 7 months, still no idea of what my condition is. Refused to give me a referral for an MRI of my lower spine even though weThey refused to give me a referral for a spine MRI even though we discussed that may well be the problem. I am in tears! I haven't the strength right now to elaborate but I could easily list 20 issues that were handled poorly.

Dr does care about patient. Never talked to my husband about my diseased stomach. Don’t go to this dr. His staff is horrible and they lie

This doctor made a gross error which resulted in the prolonged suffering and ultimately the death of my Mother. She went to him describing symptoms of ulcerative colitis, for which he had treated her 2 years prior. He insisted that it could not be a relapse of UC and refused to do the necessary diagnositc testing (a colonoscopy) which would have clearly diagnosed it. As a result, my Mother suffered tremendously with excruciating bowel pain and excessive bloody diarrhea for several months. By the time we got her into appropriate care, she was severely malnourished, extremely anemic and the new doctor said it was one of the worst cases of UC he had ever seen and recommended a bowel resection. The rest is very sad history. This doctor is arrogant and dismissive and I would give him negative stars if I could. The death of my Mother and having watched her suffer endlessly and unnecessarily as she did is something that no other patient should have to experience. That is why I am writing this… review.

un professional staff , poor services , wrong diagnostic , never go back to this office again and never recommended to anybody, they shouldn't be in business

I have never been so disrespected in my life, and this behavior coming from "health care providers". To have the balls to tell me that I should be able to work with no problem suffering from IBS-D and IBS-C is an absolute joke. And just moments before I was poorly serviced, another patient walked out and slammed the door and the nurses LAUGHED about it! Not only am I leaving this review, I am filing a grievance with my INS, calling the better buisness bureau and changing doctor's immediately!

Went to Dr. Katta's office in the Heart & Family building and saw one of his associates instead. The associate suggested a colonoscopy with out examining me ( really not even touched me, for the record I am clean, bathed etc. ) or suggesting an alternate procedure. I might have well gone to visit a computer.

Dr Katta was barely in the room, spoke very quietly and didn't talk to me much but thank God i talked to the PA more about my condition and what to do and LOVED him. Dr Manuel i think his name was. He was wonderful and very nice and helpful. I would refer people to see HIM, but not Dr Katta.

I recently underwent my first upper endoscopy at the Ft. Pierce surgical center. The entire staff were professional, knowledgeable and comforting. My experience was quite pleasant. I highly recommend Dr. Katta to anyone seeking quality GI care.
