Dr. Joseph E. Kizior
Dr. Joseph E. Kizior received his doctor of dental surgery with honors from Loyola University Dental School - Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Kizior also completed an advanced specialty program at Loyola University receiving a Master of Science degree in oral biology and a certificate of specialty in orthodontics. The research program Dr. Kizior worked on concentrated on the sensory (pain) receptors in the ligament that surrounds the roots of the teeth. The findings were published in the journal of Dental Research, titled, "The Sensory Receptors of the Periodontal Ligament", and they have clinical orthodontic applications to this day.
After receiving this specialty license, Dr. Kizior started his private practice. Shortly after that, he received an appointment as clinical professor in orthodontics at …Loyola University. This enabled him to be familiar with the latest research and treatment techniques in orthodontics.
Dr. Kizior treats patients in all groups and he designs a specific treatment plan for each patient. In younger patients whose teeth are developing, he uses functional appliances to guide the teeth into a good alignment. For teen-age patients and adults needing comprehensive treatment, he uses clear "cosmetic" braces or Invisalign© without headgear. This treatment will give the patient a good bite and a beautiful aesthetic smile that will last a life time.
Dr. Kizior served as a Captain in the United States Army Dental Corps at Fort Eustis, V.A., for two years. Also, while in private practice, Dr. Kizior has taken many post-graduate courses including several at the prestigious Pankey Institute on tempero-mandibular joint therapy. Recently, he has completed a hands-on seminar on temporary anchoring devices or mini implants. There mini-implants are very effective in adult orthodontic treatment.
