Dr. Joseph Frederick Marino, DO

I suffer from anxiety and had a horrible experience with my last pap smear and was not looking forward the this visit. The front desk worker was great and kind. However once the doctor came he basically said why am I there to see him when I should be going to a different doctor and he didn't seem to want to deal with me. After attacking me about my reasons why I was there he then moved on to my weight which I am really sensitive about and basically called me fat without just saying it. By this time I was in tears and he just excused his rudeness for being frank and that this is how doctors should be and if they haven't in the past then they were not doing their job. There is a way to let people know how serious a situation is without being rude about it. While he was getting my tests ordered he could not figure out how to work the computer system and was then rude to the very nice office help and she had to calmly show him the right way to do it. Suffice to say the experience was… horrible and has not helped with my bad view of gynecologist visits.

I was a bit scared at first because half an hour before my appointment I started to read the reviews that this doctor had. I had such bad experiences waiting for appointments with other gynecologists (some take months to see me, even half year of wait and He takes me prompt, less than a week after my first call) so I was not going to miss this opportunity half an hour before . When I got to the office, the receptionist behaved very well with me and after filling some papers I get promptly Allen to the office, his assistant, a Hispanic girl was very Gentle and really cared for me, I feel Her interest in the questions, and few minutes later I saw the Dr. He introduced himself, to me and my sister who was with Me. He was very polite and friendly I kept expecting the rudeness attitude I read he had, but on the other hand, He spoke with kindness and He talked to me like if He were my father. He was caring and Honest. Note: You have to know the difference between honest and rudeness. He was… interested by how I felt by the situation I was involved (the reason why I visited him) and which that I'm going through, He did all He could and looked into my records and for information from my history, he takes a couple minutes to do it. Then He came and explained to me what no doctor had explained to me before.. He not only spoke with carefulness but affection as if He really cared about me. I could see it in his face. I can tell he was NOT acting on. I could feel it. He asked his assistant if he had another patient to see because he really wanted to take his time with me. Than I waited for a few minutes and he took me to his office firmly but kindly explained to me what had happened to me two years ago, and suggested to me what I should do.. I Leave his office very happy but above all grateful that there is a person like Dr Merino who tells you things as they are and makes you feel like Hes really interested in you. I do not know if Hes going to remember my face the next time I have to visit Him as I read many complain that he doesn't. but I can understand that He have several patients a day and I do not expect from Him to specifically remember me. But with the help that he has given me today I give myself well served.

This doctor can be a little grumpy but I swear he is the most kind and caring doctor I have had in years. He was able to find out what no other doctor took the time to find out and saved my life. I had cancer and my regular GYN dismissed my problems as the aging process. I thank Dr Marino for truly he saved my life.

I went to Dr. Marino's office after a had my second miscarriage for a follow up examination. This was my first time going to his office. The staff was great, Dr. Marino was quick and prescribed me loestrin as my birth control saying that was what his professional recommendation. The first office visit wasn't the problem, although I felt like I didn't get to ask all the questions I had it was my next appointment that left a very horrible taste in my mouth. After 3 months on being on the birth control that he had prescribed me ... I started to continuously bleed and spot for a month. I had been on vacation for two weeks when it started and then had jumped right back into work when i returned and wasn't able to make an appointment until it had already been a month. When i got in to see Dr. Marino and explain the situation and his suddenly and rudely began questioning me about things he should be answering for me. 1. He very curtly ask me if I knew the difference in birth… control dosage... As a patient that's not for me to know or control... the whole reason for me being in his office was because I don't know which birth control would work better for me. 2. He then asked demanding who would prescribe me such a low dose (well looking at my chart indicating that i should be on higher dosage) which i promptly reminded him that HE was the one who in fact prescribed me the lower dosed birth control... then he quickly change the subject. 3. He then ask me if I were taking my birth control regularly at the same time every day... i answered yes i have an alarm on my phone... he replied in the most accusing voice I've heard in such a situation "ARE YOU SURE?" NOTE: I have miscarried twice in my adult life and both experiences were horrifying... in fact, during my first visit I broke into tears expressing how bad both experiences were and how pregnancy was something I wanted to wait for until later on in life... TO ASK ME IF I WAS SURE I WAS TAKING MY BIRTH CONTROL NOT ONLY WAS INSENSITIVE BUT ALSO SHOWS HOW MUCH HE ACTUALLY PAYS ATTENTION TO HIS PATIENTS.... I WAS ONLY IN HIS OFFICE THREE MONTHS PRIOR AND HE WAS ACTING LIKE I WAS A COMPLETELY NEW PATIENT. 4. after the horrible office reaming i got Dr. Marino finally send he would send a new prescription to my pharmacist but when I called to check if it was ready, 1 1/2 hours later, my pharmacist told me that there was no prescription sent. I had to call the office back and his ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL RECEPTIONIST HELEN (I believe her name was) had to call in the prescription he didn't send! I was referred to his office and I regret taking that recommendation. I have now found another GYN who is amazing, caring, and has the utmost impeccable bedside manner.... something Dr. Marino never had or lost a very long time ago. I would never let anyone I know go to him for even a cough.

He's a little loud, but sharp and knowledgeable.

I was severly miss diagnosed during a pregnancy. i almost died!! This doctor is arragent and needs to retire. He no longer delivers babies or has his own practice and there is a good reason why! Do not trust your health with him. Is is only interested in performing unnessacary procedures to make money. I should have sued him but was foolish not to. He should not be allowed to practice medicine!

they are so professional,the courtesy and the bedside manners are so good i never had to spend more than 10 mint in the waiting room , they call you back right away if u need help.

My office was scheduled in a quick time, not a long wait at all he was very caring and nice seemed to listen to all my concerns. His office staff is very nice and courteous more than most dr offices these days.

He is not up to date with new procedures. Would not recommend him. Felt like he couldnt wait to leave the exam room. Made me feel like my questiions were stupid.
