Dr. Juan Carlos Malpartida, MD

My father had an emergency medical procedure scheduled that made him miss an appointment w/ Dr. Malpartida. I called the office to advise them of the procedure, and explained that had been scheduled only a few days before. He had to miss that appointment.After having kept a few appointments sometime after the operation, my dad had an accident in which he was left quadriplegic. Less than a month before the scheduled appointment, he told me that he would be unable see my dad and gave me 30 days to find another doctor. He explained that he wanted to stop seeing my dad since my dad's accident where he was left immobile. My dad was still in rehab trying to gain some mobility at the time of his decision. There were several approvals for medical services and prescriptions he had to sign off on and refused to do so despite the 30 days not having lapsed and my being told that it would take the doctors I contacted 2 weeks to make a decision to see my dad. It was irrelevant to the doctor's… office (Reyna) that one approval was for continued home care services that required a nurse to be in the house to attend to his pressure sores obtained while at an acute therapy center and in a skilled nursing environment. This referral came from the hospital after my dad was admitted for sepsis. I'm not sure what the legalities are, but I know that his practice is not set up to meet the needs of immobile patients. I could have understood and accepted that explanation had that been what his Office Manager had said. Instead, I received a letter claiming that my dad had been discharged because of lack of compliance with his medical appointment--which anyone who knows my dads medical history or me can testify is false, and calumny. She herself, Mrs. Reyna, stated that she couldnt believe that someone as on top of things like me would have been unable to find another internist before the 30 days. I explained to her that had she been aware of different offices policy, she would have realized that some practices take up to 2 weeks to review medical history and/or record before deciding to accept someone as a patient. I am truly disappointed with Dr. Malpartida. I have been seeing him for some time now and couldn't believe he would have discharged my dad or any patient in the condition my dad is in without a good legal or ethical reason.

Practical and honest. He does not waste your time.

Very professional and compassionate.

This doctor seems to be interested in billing me more each time. This is unethical.
