Let me just preface this by saying I’ve seen a number of doctors (neurologists and neurosurgeons included) for migraines before. I’ve had migraines for decades and am very familiar with how to treat a migraine, I’ve tried various treatments prescribed to me, and I’ve had MRIs, bloodwork, and CT scans done. 3 months ago I had what very visually and physically felt like a seizure which resulted in going to the ER at our small local hospital out here in the peninsula. We don’t have a certified neurologist doctor here in Port Angeles and the nurse practitioner neurologist here (the only one out of the entire Olympic Peninsula) wasn’t 100% certain of next steps, what to prescribe me moving forward, how to go about returning to work, and also was on board for me getting a second opinion from a neurologist in Seattle. After three months, I was able to get a last minute cancellation appointment with Dr Stahl. I’m trying to keep this short and succinct, but I truly am shocked at how he spoke… to me and have never had a doctor speak to me this way before, I want to make sure it’s truly understood just how terribly I was treated on a humanely level. Dr Stahl consistently cut me off, interrupted me, told me my “plan” should be to drink more water, exercise, and eat more because I’m a “petite young woman.” He also told me this “episode” and all the symptoms afterwards were migraine but also a “manifestation based off of fear.” He also said he’s had patients who have had “way worse migraines.” He spoke to me like he already knew the issue, my symptoms, and who I was as a person, as if he already made up his mind and could predict what I’d say and how I’ve taken care of myself. He was sorely mistaken. Whenever I’d interject to correct how I do take care of myself, (exercise daily, carry a jug of water around with me wherever I go, eat all three meals and snacks throughout the day, get 8-9 hours of sleep every night, limit screens late at night or in the morning, even told him I’ve gone to therapy for 5+ years, and take Excedrine for migraines since he also condescendingly told me to “try that”) and how I’ve lived with migraines for decades and how this incident was very, very different, he’d either quickly interrupt and just say “migraine” over and over again like a child trying to get his way or to make me simply shut up, or tell me to take it up with my local nurse practitioner neurologist and basically and very obviously didn’t want to anything to do with me. I’ve never had such a poor experience with a doctor before. I’m sure if I had an obvious results from any of the tests I’d taken, I would’ve been treated differently. Or maybe if he hadn’t asked about the size of our bathroom or how small our house is or what my husband did for work he would’ve treated us like higher class citizens. But I’d hope he’d treat any human with more respect and entirely better bedside manner than that.

Got far more time than I expected. Tact when I needed, blunt advice ("no excuses") when I needed that. Thank you!

Dr Stahl is very caring, and provides information so that we can make informed decisions.

He told me difficult news but he did it very gently and gave gave me treatment options and hope.

Excellent doctor!

I went to see this MD in June2020, worried I had ALS, was told it was stress, or cronic fatigue syndrom, or "something" but "you don't have ALS"! I went for a second opinion, and YES, I DO have ALS. I have read other reviews with the same story of this MD.
