Dr. J. Gabriel Hou, MD

With all due respect Dr. Hou couldn't help me with my specific movement disorder, Tardive Dyskinesia. In my two appointments with him he was unable to answer any of my well thought out questions in a respectful manner. This despite my attempt to present them in writing, in the form of a double spaced, large font list typed on a single page at the start of the appointment, which he pushed to the side saying, and I quote, "I have no time for this". Unfortunately, I was not able to gain any specific treatment recommendations that I was comfortable with. Understanding that ANY neurologist is pressed for time I encourage Dr. Hou to take time to consider information presented in the National Organization for Tardive Dyskinesia's website (link in review title).

Dr. Hou works in PADRECC of VA. Unlike other clinics, they spend plenty of time with patients and families. He also explained about Parkinson's disease in a very clear and detailed manner. Very informative!

My husband had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease for years. Recently he was suggested by his friend to the Parkinson Disease Center at Houston VA Medical Center. We hesitated a litte bit because he had always been with a private neurologist. Eventually we went after he had his VA eligibility. We were so surprised by the wonderful service by Dr. Hou. He was extremely knowledgeable about Parkinson's disease. He explained a lot of details in the treatment and rehab issues that we never knew after so many years. The atmosphere of the Center was warm and comfortable. The staffs there were also very nice. I highly recommend those veterans who have Parkinson's disease or other related illness all go to Houston VA for Dr. Hou's excellent care!
