I was in the ER at Christ Hospital, with massive internal bleeding...rushed there at 8:00am by ambulance after being in extreme pain since midnight, and then fainting in my kitchen when telling my husband I'm not going to make it to Hinsdale hospital, that I'd unfortunately have to tgo to Christ (where I have a lawsuit pending already). By around 6:00pm, after many tests, it was determined that I had a cyst on my right ovary that had burst, and had been bleeding since midnight the night before, so my entire abdomen was filling with blood, even putting great pressure on my lungs so I could hardly breathe. The 2 ER surgeons were able to make contact with Dr. Sundar - the ob/gyn surgeon that needed to to the exploratory surgery on me - but he was refusing to come it, and was stating he would operate the following morning at 6:00. My family and hospital staff had to really fight tooth and nail to have something done...I really don't recall much, I honestly thought I was going to die. I do… remember being told that there was damage being done to my internal organs to to the pressure of the massive bleeding, and I even was told and had to sign a paper talking about an emergency hysterectomy. At 27 years only, 3 years into my marriage, and with no children yet, I would have rather died than hear that. Dr. Sundar finally came in to operate...I was later told by the 2 ER surgeons treating me that I wouldn't have survived until the next morning (when Sundar wanted to operate), I was told that if he continued to refuse to come in, that they were going to cut me open in the ER without the ob/gyn in order to save my life, but I was finally out of surgery at 2:30am. I have a HUGE scar from my belly button down, partially because instead of stitching me up, Sundar was angry enough for having to come in, rushed through a nasty staple job...25 staples to be exact, and to make matters worse, I'm allergic to metal, so by the time the staples came out...less than a week after going in, I was becoming infected with the allergic reaction, not to mention that I wasn't close to healed, so the large cut pulled apart a bit. My beautiful flat stomach has never been the same. When I was telling him how much pain I was in at my follow-up/staple remove (not to mention ONLY appointment I've ever had since the surgery) he was yelling at me to the point that I was crying, telling me "you didn't even have a baby, I didn't cut your uterus, you don't have that much pain." Yet the 2 ER surgeaon, told me that I should have been cut all the way up to my breasts because it was an exploratory surgery but since I was so young, they didn't want me to have such a large scar, so they cut only up to my belly button, but then had to 'use the clamps and really pull my abdomen open, and they still went inside and had to reach up to feel my lungs and were in up to their elbows.' They told me I would be in extreme pain, and that they have never even seen anyone with that much blood in their abdomen EVER! At least I only had part of my right ovary removed by Dr. Sundar, but the way he verbally treated me, not to mention that he nearly just let me die, thank God for those 2 ER surgeons that convinced him to come in 6 hours sooner so that I survived, I wouldn't take my cat to be treated by him!!! It took me over 3 months to heal from that surgery, and with no further follow-ups, no referrals to any other ob/gyn Doctor. THank goodness for the one I see for my back injury, whom I began seeing about 4 weeks after my surgery, because he wanted to be sure I was healing, so he sent me for MRI's and ultrasounds and treated me. When Dr. Sundar released me from the hospital just 4 days after the surgery, my iron and hemoglobin was still dropping, but he was mad because I didn't want a transfusion because I wanted to avoind the 1% risk of contracting Hepatitis or HIV, so he says "if you're not getting transfusion of 2 units, there's no reason for you to stay in hospital" almost to scare me...I was only at 7.2 when I left and still dropping. He NEVER even ordered me to have my blood checked in a week or two, not at all. It was a terrible experience with him, but at least I'm alive.
