Dr. Karen S Heffernan, PhD

I saw Dr. Heffernan for three years. She did all the things I would expect a trauma therapist to do and worked on building trust. She promised to be there for me and worked herself into my psyche. She made me dependent on her. Then when I was having severe troubles and was having difficulty making it to her office, she verbally attacked me, blamed me for not working hard enough and complained that she was doing all the work. She basically forced me out the door. There was no closure, no referral, no open door - nothing. Needless to say, I was completely traumatized by this event. It took me over a year to get somewhat over the betrayal. I still can't open up totally to my new therapist because of fear of being hurt. Thanks Dr. Heffernan.

karen is very good at what she does. problem is, what she doesn't do, or care to do. trauma and only trauma.. but in the final analysis, if you move with her, every time she moves, shouldn't be any problems. But, if you cannot commute to her changed offices (twice in 2 years). she'll slice and dice you, with NO CLOSURE, NONE. 3 YEARS of therapy, and she doesn't seem to care about leaving a positive image, memory of all of those hours, AND SEEMINGLY MUTUAL TRUST, SHE CUTS OFF PATIENTS WITH NO CLOSURE, is she so gun shy about cutting long term patients that she cannot provide closure.? or is she so sadistic as to deny them closure.???? I don't know the answer, but I got a voicemail. termination, and no offer of meeting for some final closure, that is just about as traumatic as the reason i first sought her out. I guess therapists have their own … set of ethics and compassion., or lack thereof. I don't know. THAT IN ITSELF IS TRAUMATIC,
