Dr. Karen Jacksack Mass, MD

This was the first time, nothing hurt and I felt very at ease during my appointment. Her nurses were extraordinary, too. They had to take blood and this was the first time I did not bruise. I love this place.

I miscarried and I was treated so poorly at this office. I miscarried and bled for 3 months straight and she let me! I was in pain and clotting and grieving a loss and was always brushed off I bled massive clots and to her that was normal. I was told it was normal and not to worry and to wait it out and was given the option 3 months after for a D&C and was told that I wanted to wait which was not the case I was suffering. So I went somewhere else where they could treat me and so I could finally move on

She is an excellent gynecologist.

I've been a patient for 3 years now & very happy with Dr. Mass. She is very straight forward & to the point. Doesn't sugar coat anything or give you an unsure answer. I can understand that some might feel she's a bit uncouth but I myself prefer her disposition. I've also had a few undesirable procedures performed at her facility but Dr Mass was great about explaining everything & making sure I was as comfortable as I could be. She's professional & easy to talk to. I've never felt uncomfortable discussing personal (reproductive) information or asking questions. All the nursing staff has always been great as well. I've never had an issue with anyone at either facility (Grayslake or Lake Forest). The only complaint I have is the wait time has become a bit long. I understand she is busy & hope they hire more help. Even when she's swamped I don't feel rushed. My needs are always met & questions answered.

I've never trusted a doctor more. She's helped to control my endometriosis and helped me conceive my son. She cares deeply about her patients and is very direct, never giving false hope or sugar coating when things are serious. She took my concerns and wishes seriously, but also took control when needed. When it came time to deliver, Dr. Mass literally saved my life. After a time of pushing, she quickly and confidently made the call that it was time to go to c-section. However, due to structural abnormalities, I had sever hemorrhaging. Dr. Mass took control of the situation, kept my family well informed, and visited me in the hospital every single day for the 14 days that I was admitted. She was also a wonderful advocate to make sure I was allowed to see my son while admitted in the ICU and post-surgical care floors. My follow-up care has been thoughtful, meticulous, and holistic. I'll never have a better doctor.

I'm sure Dr. Mass has some very nice qualities, but I most definitely prefer her midwife when it comes to communication and comfort. I feel like Dr. Mass is annoyed by my questions and I feel very talked down to. She does usually explain her quick answers (that always seem to be answered before I finish my question), so that is nice but they are usually quick and too demanding versus suggesting. The first time I met her I was not liking her as much, the second time was better though rushed, and the third time was aweful where I left the office crying because I felt she was so rude. Her midwife is wonderful, very kind and soft spoken. She lets you talk and remembers you. She also has a WONDERFUL receptionist (blonde, very kind, always smiling, and always chatty in a way spreads happiness). I would switch OB's if it weren't for the midwife and receptionist. It's nice to know others are having similar experiences with Dr. Mass.

Wow, This is a scary lady. She truly has no idea what she is doing! She doesn't know anything about the latest medicine, procedures, etc. - all common knowledge available in the news, online, etc. She even gave me some misinformation. She is also very aloof and made both my partner and myself really uncomfortable. Go to Highland Park/Evanston - it's worth the peace of mind!

I have been a patient for 12 years and I highly recommend her. She has also performed two surgeries for me with excellent results.

Dr. Mass explained everything to me very well and so it was easy to understand. Spent time with me and made me feel very comfortable and at ease! Excellent doctor and staff. I am looking forward to continuing care with her and her office!
