She helped me with my thyroid when no other doctor listened!

Pleasant one visit, rude the next.

I recently changed insurance companies and moved to Decatur and needed to find a new GP. I chose Dr. Newell because her offices were near to my home and she was a female (as a female, I prefer female doctors). After 3 visits, I'm now seeking a new doctor. The office where she works is run down and uninviting. While the office staff are kind, Dr. Newell is not. Her bedside manner is unprofessional and curt. She treated me like she was my principal in high school and I'd done something wrong. She had snippy and off putting remarks to make about anything I said or asked. i don't necessarily expect my doctor to my my pal but I think they should in the least be kind.

Very knowledgeable physician (education wise) . An honest answer to this physician's beside manners is that it was not good at all (at least with my experience & I am in the medical field). Dr. Newell needs to incorporate listening to the patient without being impatient, communicate to the patient, using terminology that the patient can comprehend & to slow down some ( She seemed rushed). I patiently waited over an hour to be seen by Dr. Newell. As one great physician once informed me, a good Dr. is willing to be patient, kind, and to listen and learn from a patient and this way, together with the patient, the best interest and care for the patient can be accomplished. Dr. Newell seemed haughty and anxious to get to the next patient. Not a good experience. She should treat ALL patients the way she would want to be treated.

Dr. Newell is a very caring and professional doctor. She is always pleasant and knowledgeable. she refers when appropriate attempts to meet patient expectations, on all occasions.
