I had a very bad experience with Dr. Blumner. I was in crisis and explained my situation to her on the phone very clearly from the beginning. She accepted me as a patient and told me it would take about four or five weeks for us to get to know each other to see if it would be a good fit, at no time did she mention any kind of a specific kind of therapy that she specialized in or a kind of work that I would be limited to because of what I was experiencing. I had insurance she accepted but she took payment for our first meeting and made another appointment for us to meet the following week. I came late to our second appointment and was clearly in distress, she continued the therapy anyway and asked me questions about my family, my treatment, what and how I was feeling, and what was going on in my life. Five minutes before the end of the session she told me that this was not the kind of therapy that she practiced, and that I needed to find someone else that might be able to see me on a… sliding scale, then she proceeded to take payment from me for the session. If she was not interested in seeing me as a patient, or could not help me, as she said she could when we fist spoke, she could have: 1. Cancelled the appointment, and let me know, so that I could look for someone else instead of wasting a week between appointments. 2. Not asked me personal questions about things that were already hard enough to share with a stranger, and let me know before the session started that it was not going to work out, as that can be further traumatizing and triggering to an individual in crisis. 3. Tell me from the beginning that maybe I needed a different kind of treatment, or that she needed a greater financial commitment from me. I did not find her to act in a very fair or ethical manner. She was not at all kind or empathetic and in fact acted rather annoyed and bothered by me and my circumstances. The whole experience was very clinical and completely lacked honesty or transparency. Stay away!
