Dr. Kathleen Mary Link, MD

Being a Patient of hers and or her practice assures you are with the best in the industry. My daughter has been a patient of Dr.Link since birth. She diagnosed her condition after a stay in the NICU in Fairfax. She gave us the answers we desperately needed to take our child home and how to properly care for her. Since then Dr.Link has been a valued resource in the care for our child. Always helpful, never overly optimistic, provides realistic answers and suggestions and has helped us understand so much. I would give her 7 stars if I could, but she is the best - I am so very grateful of the service she provides and how she provides it. Her practice is a wonderful blessing that I am so grateful is available.

Dr. Link is hands down the best doctor. Has truly made my life with type 1 diabetes manageable and has helped me so much. It will be a very sad day when I have to leave Dr. Link and go to an endocrinologist for adults.

My daughter went to Dr Link for years. She is too old now but we are still trying to find a doc as good as she is. We cant find one!!! She is the best!!

I didn't have a choice in the matter of picking an endocrinologist. Even if I did I couldn't have picked better. My daughter went undiagnosed in her aldosterone disorder for her first three weeks of life. Her pediatrician only sent her to the hospital to be admitted after three weeks of no weight gain(4lb9oz) with visits every two days. The Pediatrician sent me over with the admitting papers which basically read( parental neglect not feeding). Blood work came back with a sodium of 109(normal is 136-146) potassium 9.6(n= 3.5-4.5). It's amazing she wasn't dead. After bieng a hospital ride to Fairfax hospital PICU we met lots of Drs but after only 1day Dr link had diagnosed a super rare genetic disorder. She had only heard of a few cases but still was able to diagnose my daughter despite what the Pediatrician had accused of us. I have since had 3 more children whom she followed until she knew if they inherited the disorder. My last son did inherit it and thanks to her he did not have to… wait to be diagnosed like his sister who is now Intellectually disabled. Shes caring and always in a good mood( even making a little joke about me being bad at math, after I showed her an old lab order for my daughter I forgot to get done). She's is a wonderful human being as well as Dr. Thank you Dr. Link. If you ever aoccur a wait at a well check it is because she is saving another child like mine. Just know she'll be right there for you and your child when you need her most!

We brought my 9 yr-old daughter into see Dr. Link thinking she might have hypothyroidism since she was showing the symptoms of it, which we recognized because my wife also has hypothyroidism. When we asked Dr Link if it was worth a blood test to check for it, she was dismissive, saying it was pretty unlikely. We went and had a blood test done elsewhere anyway, and the results definitively showed my daughter did have hypothyroidism. When we brought the results of the test back to Dr Link she had absolutely no reaction (this was where she began to lose our confidence) and rather than saying, 'well gosh maybe I should have tested for this after all' or something gracious, she sullenly wrote out a prescription for Levothyroxin (the standard med for hypothyroidism) almost as if it was a bother or a chore. Both before and after this event she has always seemed kind of emotionally absent, like someone who might no longer interested in their work, just going through the motions without… enthusiasm. That's understandable after many decades in a field, but to allow one's level of service and expertise to be substandard is unsettling.

Dr. Link has been seeing my daughter since she was born for the past 2 years. she takes the time to call and talk to me. When we had a problem with the lab not sending her the test results she called them herself. She did not need to do that at all.The nurse at her current office is very good. Unfortunately with her changing her office we have to pay an extra fee since the hospital charges it as a facility fee. But as a Dr she is very good wit my child.

We have been seeing Dr. Link for a number of years for our now 12 year old son who has two endocrinology issues. We are very pleased with her professionalism, knowledge, experience, and her care.

My daughter has been seeing Dr. Link since for 13 years. She is an excellent doctor, and was able to diagnose a syndrome that was not caught by a supposed "expert in his field" at Georgetown. She is always thorough, and takes plenty of time talking to us - never rushes. We are completely confident in the care my daughter has received. I have NEVER heard anyone say anything negative about the care she has given their child.

Dr. Link has treated my daughter for her Type I Diabetes since diagnosis, about 15 years ago. She is thorough and has a wonderful rapport with her young patients and their parents. She even has a plan for helping these patients and parents as the patient matures and needs to become more independent in taking control of their disease. At times when I didn't understand her reasoning, she was able to explain it to me and would listen to my viewpoint, as well.
