Dr. Kathleen Ruh Trapp, MD

Dr. Trapp has extremely poor bedside manner and is intent on knowing the answer before listening. Due to intermittent side pain, she recommended a specialist procedure - without seeing the specialist first. I have a different issue in this same field, so knowing this I felt was unrelated, and the procedure was unnecessary and intrusive. I opted to decline the procedure and see the specialist first for a second opinion. The specialist's opinion was I absolutely did not need the procedure, and the information on which it was ordered was medically unsound. They also felt my issues were not due to the area of specialty. At another appointment to discuss a post-partum issue she ignored the topic and chastised me for not getting the procedure. I calmly told her I saw the specialist instead and he strongly felt I did not need it. She looked at my chart again, got visibly annoyed, and told me that she agreed with him and didn't think I needed it either, but if I "really wanted it" she… would refer me back. I was baffled. At no point did I state I wanted the procedure. In fact, I actively advocated against it. The entire time I was not talked to about the postpartum issue I there for, as I sat on the table with a gown from the waist down waiting for her to address the issue. Only after she started walking out of the room did I remind her and she said, verbatum, "Oh right, you wanted me to look at your _______." I was appalled and said "I do not want you to, I need you to." She then proceeded to quickly state I did not have the issue at hand before examining me. Upon examination she quickly and gruftly corrected herself as I did have the issue. As far as the pain that caused a specialist visit? She told me it was bowel sensitivity and that some people just feel it more. She then walked out. I later advocated for myself by requesting to see specialists, and worked through physical therapy and my women's health practioners to figure out I was having muscle spasms and endometriosis. Neither were remotely considered by Dr. Trapp. She also added "generalized anxiety disorder" to my chart; of which I have no diagnosis. I had it removed. If you're going to see her, self-advocate hard and get second opinions. There are much better, even incredible, providers at the same location.

Dr. Trapp is one of those doctors that those of us in the mental health field, who work endlessly to combat mental health stigma, fear most for our clients to encounter. I have never met a doctor who judged more and listened less. Really disappointed; please do not subject yourself to this abhorrent and unethical level of care.

Dr. Trapp was interested, thorough, and I liked her. I think this is the beginning of a good healthcare relationship.

If I could give no stars, I would. As someone with several chronic illnesses who regularly seeks specialists in the Boston area, I was grilled regarding the validity of my illnesses. She completely lacks sympathy, something I think is desirable in a medical provider. Then I mentioned that I wanted to try something, something that had worked in the past, and I was questioned about why the treatment was stopped and why I felt it was needed again. Overall, it was a terrible experience. I would rather wait the extra however many weeks to see ANYONE else so I don’t need to see her.

I went in for follow up guidance after being diagnosed with hypothyroidism at the hospital. I was a new patient and She was assigned to me. She was very terse and condescending toward me- using curse words, rushing me. She kept reading the incorrect bloodwork results and when I would ask a question or suggest any thoughts she would snap at me and tell me I was wrong and that there was no way, etc.... I left there more unsure of what to do than when I walked in. She provided no advice or course of treatment. It was unfortunate to have had to pay (out of pocket also) for such a waste of time. Truly disappointing.

Dr Trapp is the best, we miss her. She is to steight forward and to the point.

One of the best!! Very knowledgeable and kind. I sure miss you Dr. Trapp. You saved this old woman's life a few years ago!!
