Dr. Kathryn Anne Mcvicar, MD

Very rude , She did not like being asked questions. Was not knowledgeable about genetic chromosome disorders that causes autism. This doctor got her license out of a cracker Jack's box. Don't waste your time.

Can't begin to express how unpleasant my experience with this doctor was. My non expressive daughter was not answering her questions, because she can't speak, and the doctor loudly announced "Intellectually disabled. Cannot understand simple communication." If that's the way she feels about her patients, she probably shouldn't be a doctor at all. It's rude, unprofessional and ignorant. My daughter tests at age level but is non expressive and comments like the doctors are extremely offensive. Further, my daughter's previous doctor had prescribed a seizure medication that we needed a refill for. When I submitted for a prescription refill through the my chart portal , I never got a response. When I followed up I was told she wasn't sure if she wanted to continue that medicine. Excuse me? Her entire experience "treating the patient" was a single zoom call. The least she could do is honor the current treatment plan from her previous doctors. An embarrassing experience from an… ineffectual and disinterested doctor. She should find a different career and you should find a different doctor.

She was very rude argumentative and unprofessional. She abused her power and her connections to cause grief and sorrow to my family. She didn't agree with the previous medical diagnosis of autism . My son has micro duration 15 q 11.2 which causes autism and he was signed up to Tennessee early intervention has had several evaluations throughout the years and still showed up autistic. If she had a problem with his genetic disorder she could have referred us to genetic doctor instead she lost her temper was completely unprofessional stormed out the room only to call and verbally cussed me out on the phone and then had my three children band on false accusations. I'm still seeking legal counsel. Don't trust her she needs her medical license taken away.

I have been seen Dr. McVicar about 2 years. At the beginning she was great. She wanted to find a diagnosis for my son and I felt we were building a relationship. I saw geneticist that informed me that his genetics has nothing to do with his seizures but Dr. McVicar is convinced that it is. The geneticist inform me that Dr. McVicar is looking at the numbers wrong (long story). I kept seeing her because she "knows" my son by recently the last two visits I have been taken both my kids. I guess she forgot who is the one with the problem as she starts seeing my other son that one that doesn't have any problems and I go Dr. McVicar wrong kid. She goes I knew that... then she starts asking what is his problem. I feel as she no longer cares, or has not read his chart prior to his visit. I feel that every time I see her is pretty worthless. Every time my son is in the hospital for Emergency room and the ER docs call her she is never available. When I follow up with her she has no idea that my… son has been in the ER and that he has blood done and her reply to me is well we don't work with the same system as Stamford Hospital so I don't know the results of the lab. I feel that if any doctor wants and cares about lab works they can manage to get them but Dr. McVicar neither care or has time. Last visit her office cancel my appointment last minute and reschedule me for a later date. I went for the later date and she was sick again and didn't want to see me. She barely talked to me and I am just annoyed by her. I am finally making the move to find another doctor who hopefully I can build a relationship and will care for my 3 year old son who is battling with an unknown form of Epilepsy. Any good neurologist recommendation are welcome!

Stay FAR away from this Doctor! I very rarely write reviews, but did not want other future patients to experience what we have. My child had a scheduled appointment which Dr. McVicar cancelled the same day after we waited weeks for the appointment. We rescheduled that appointment for one week later (after there were no provisions given to see us sooner even though the doctor cancelled). My child and I drove to Dr. McVicar’s office in another state and were two minutes away from the office when the office called and cancelled on us again. After being on the phone for an hour, the office reluctantly gave me an appointment almost one week later. This is medically inappropriate on so many levels. Shame on Dr. McVicar and her office staff for repeatedly cancelling and abandoning her patients!

She was very professional and empathetic. She was patient and answered all our questions. She reassured us and left us feeling good about her diagnosis and overlap situation.

I just don't feel any positive energy to this doctor.

My child had a diagnosis of autism every since he was 3 years old he had blood work done that cause micro deletion usually kids with microdeletion and chromosome disorders have a diagnosis of autism anyway upon which we got the referral to go to her from the insurance because our insurance currently switched at the appointment she told me she did not agree with the diagnosis and she wanted a updated evaluation I asked her why he's had a diagnosis since he was 3 she said it's good to keep an updated evaluation I'll just give you the referral not arguing with her I took the evaluation referral it was for the same person that already evaluated him I pointed that out to her very calmly she said yes I know I said okay I'm not a very confrontational person six months went out and it was time for the reevaluation I couldn't get a sooner appointment he did the evaluation wondering why I was having to redo it it didn't even make sense to him much less me I took the evaluation back to her she… slammed it across the room on the counter after reading it and walked out the room I didn't even know she was going to come back in the evaluation confirm that he was autistic I knew it was she wasted my time and she scared my child cuz he's not used to having things thrown around him so I decided to walk out I didn't know what else to do she called me on my cell phone as I was driving home asking me if I really wanted a diagnosis of autism to follow my son around for the rest of his life that children used to get that diagnosis because mothers were cold-hearted I was in a State of Shock I did not know what to say I just said excuse me I don't think this is professional nor do I agree with the mannerism and which you treated me back at the office and I am going to report you she told me to go ahead and she will make sure she will do all that she can to make it where we can't see any neurologist including hers and she hung up on me I was 17 miles away from my house I was crying the whole way not knowing what to do and why this was happening I did call I speak to a supervisor name is heart they told me they would do an investigation my son was in and out of the hospital for seizures and a nurse told me they had a lot of parents complain about her and she's currently no longer working at that clinic cuz I want to warn you about this woman from the bottom of my heart because I don't want you to have to go through what I did and a lot of other parents had to go through she had me ban from the clinic just because she disagreed with the diagnosis and I told her her behavior was unacceptable I did call the medical board on her I do know that a lot of places she works the State Medical Board does not govern that they have their cell phone contracts and that they are not governed by the state and they get donation funding so it makes it very hard to file a complaint you have to go through the place of business of where she works and they're not really willing to help nobody got back with me regarding the investigation I only got a letter stating that I am permanently banned do to file language that never occurred this woman called me on our personal cell phone after I calmly walked out of the doctor's office not knowing what to do all on the count of nothing nothing should have brought her to this point the woman comes across as bipolar and has serious behavior issues and social skills and does not know how to communicate well with parents of children with special needs when you go into this type of field you have to have compassion for the child and for the parents I hope this woman changes her ways and understand her mistakes and the pain and grief she has caused many families you can look at how many places she has worked and that she will show you that she has left a trail of parents complaining because of her behavior the only regret I have is that I took my son to her

Dr. Mc vicar was very condescending and rude. As a parent dealing with a sick child in the hospital, she is definitely not the doctor you would like to see. Fortunately she is not the only neurologist in this group of doctors and we will definitely see a different neurologist in the future. The younger doctors that were with Dr. Mc vicar were very courteous and made sure to answer all of my questions. I hope that Dr. Legge will not become jaded by working with her.
