Dr. Kathy L Minter, MD

Dr. Minter has been my Primary Care Physician for almost a year and I have been extremely well pleased with care by her and her nurses. In both cases, I am treated like I was “best patient she has.” In this year with her I have seen her about 3 times and she responded fully to the matters that I brought up with her and left me with a feeling that I was getting the fullest medical advice that I could ever expect. Without going in to details, I will just cite one instance. I saw her with the possibility that I may have strep throat which I was tested for and did not have. But in the process, I informed her that I was planning a trip to New York within the next week. She warned me about the problem of flying when you have some strong symptoms of a cold. We had trip insurance so we canceled the trip without losing any deposits on plane, hotel and shows. If we had made the trip I’m sure the trip would not have been a healthy, pleasurable one. Thank you, Dr. Minter.

I can recommend Dr. Minter as she is wonderful. Her staff is very friendly and most competent. I would never change from her practice.

Dr. Kathy Minter is horrible and hurt my health a great deal, PERMANENTLY. Do not trust her. Here are warnings: a. before taking ANY pill, look it up on the Internet and type "side effects"! b. Don't see Dr. Minter for an annual physical. Instead, once a year, just go to AnyLabTest. For about $100, they can test your blood for about 30 different medical conditions (e.g. possible cancer, diabetes, heart disease). Then IF the blood test shows a problem, just go to a (much better) specialist doctor in that area. Support: When Dr. Minter prescribed me Mobic pills for mild arthritis, she refused to warn about side-effects. The Mobic caused (1) permanent heartburn, so that I can't sleep well at night. Then for the heartburn (she caused), she said to take Prevacid pills "forever," even though the bottle says to take them for just 2 weeks. When I asked about this, she said not to worry about those directions, and that Prevacid also had no side effects. Now it turns out that I have (2)… liver damage, and that the Prevacid probably caused it! When I started to directly ask her "Does this medicine cause side effects?", she said "No" and even got mad. Therefore, I had to go to a liver specialist, and the liver damage is permanent. (A new liver can cost $1 million, and there is a waiting list of 10,000 people for a new liver.) So Dr. Minter hurt the quality and length of my life. Also, Dr. Minter kept trying to treat (3) a stomach bacteria herself (h pylori, that the heartburn made worse), which was a waste of my time and money. Finally, I went to a gastroenterologist, a stomach specialist, who did cure the bacteria. More Support: According to "Consumer Reports" and the website "Choosing Wisely" (formed by the American Board of Internal Medicine), health checkups can cause "wasteful and potentially harmful medical care".

I've been going to her for years. She is knowledgeable, thorough, well prepared (she remembers my health issues from year to year, so she must read the charts to prepare or she has an excellent memory). She explains things VERY well. I especially like that she explains what she is doing as she is doing it (ie "now I'm checking x for y and will put this in your ear") and her office follows up if there are any issues (if you get a prescription to fix something, they call after a few days to see how you are doing). I feel safe getting whatever healthcare I need there in the sense that I think she personally is committed to protecting privacy, and in the sense that she if very competent. It is easy to get questions answered, she is patient, and has a very pleasant personality. I really like the feel of the office as well - seems that her staff are the same friendly people who have been there for years. Unlike other offices, where it seems the job of the staff is to be as surly, rude… and uncooperative as possible, Dr. Minters staff is polite, knowledgeable, and helpful. It makes it seem like her office is on my side in getting a quality experience, instead of a being a pawn of the insurance company. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Minter and this office.

Dr. Minter is the type of physician you'd drive halfway across the country for. She is committed to providing quality patient care and it shows -- in today's HMO and PPO world, how many people can say they still receive handwritten follow-up notes from their doctor?
