Staff is wonderful and very professional. My appointments are on time and Dr Donatto explains everything to me. I’m very happy with this surgery and recovery. And someday Axel is going to be an amazing doctor.

I got an appointment very quickly for my possibly broken foot, and seen promptly. And for a post appointment a few weeks later I also got an appointment fairly quickly. Dr Donatto himself came in, examined me both times and that was very satisfactory.

During this holiday season, I am reminded how grateful I am for Dr. Donatto’s exceptional care and expertise. I’m long overdue to praise him. I have a history of a right ankle tendon tear that began over 30 years ago. I remember then a friend recommended I see Dr. Donatto, a San Francisco Ballet doctor, but my orthopedic surgeon diagnosed that the tendon could not be repaired. It’s a delicate situation that even cortisone shots could cause more damage. I was a runner and whenever I had a flare up, I stopped running and after 6 months, the inflammation would resolve and I would return to running. I began feeling discomfort standing and walking in 2022. In May 2023, I had a sharp pain in my ankle. Little did I know a tendon ruptured. The pain went away but I had even more difficulty walking. I saw Dr. Donatto who is conservative and did not rush into suggesting surgery. He recommended that I get fitted for new orthotics. The discomfort and pain continued. Worse of all, my foot was… unstable and I fell a couple of times. I returned to see Dr. Donatto in April 2024 because my ankle did not improve. I knew it could take 6 months for the inflammation to go down and asked if I had a broken bone. After x-rays and an MRI, it was determined that I had two ruptured ankle tendons. Dr. Donatto suggested that I have a tendon transfer surgery and to get another opinion. I saw another expert who agreed with Dr. Donatto’s course of treatment. I scheduled surgery for August 2024. During pre-op, a nurse told me that Dr. Donatto was wonderful. He performed surgery on her son who had an injury in China. It was reassuring to hear the nurse’s confidence in Dr. Donatto. The surgery was complicated akin to a foot reconstruction. A tendon and my heel were cut and repositioned. The recovery was expected to take a year and was difficult and painful. I’m a compliant patient and worked hard with my physical therapy and home exercises. It took about 8-9 months to be pain free. I am so pleased with the outcome. I am pain free and my foot feels stable. I have resumed my work, which requires lots of walking, an exercise routine of Peloton cycling and walking, and pain free traveling. I am so thankful for Dr. Donatto’s skill, wisdom, and gifted hands. I would recommend him to anyone facing ankle and foot challenges.

I have been a patient of Dr. Donatto’s for over 3 years.This visit was the last one to complete my torn tendon surgery and all the follow-up appointments afterwards. I felt good going in to this appt. knowing that the surgery was successful & my foot was back to normal. Dr. Donatto did my original surgery for a collapsed foot approx. 3 years ago & this tendon tear was on the same foot. He has been exceptional with his surgery & follow-up care for this foot. I can now return to my regular routines of walking & exercising without the worry of hurting my foot again. I would not have felt this confident with any other doctor & it has been a pleasure being in his care.

Excellent consultation conserving my medical issue

I would recommend Dr. Donatto and see him again if I have an injury. He is an excellent diagnostician and skillfully diagnosed an ankle injury that I had sustained almost a year ago. He advised what I need to do to strengthen my ankle and prevent another injury in the future. I was very impressed with his care.

Dr. Donatto completed surgery on the perennial tendon in my right ankle. He did an absolutely incredible job, I’m a very active person - playing intramural sports and running multiple times a week. Since surgery I’ve been able to get back to doing what I love without any kind of pain - I’m even more active now than I had been prior to my injury. If you’re currently evaluating surgeons, I can’t recommend Dr. Donatto enough!
