Dr.Macavoy is excellent. He makes sure tests are ordered, he will explain things many different ways, he wants to make sure the patient does have any questions or concerns before they leave his office. However, the wait time to get an appointment is too long, as I have found with most DHMC MD's. You are best to call his office directly and not go through the call center for an appointment.

Dr. McAvoy and his nurse Irina are both incredible. I've got horrible migraines and cycled through several doctors, and now I happily travel up to Manchester from Boston just to see him.

Dr. McAvoy seems now only knowledgeable, but gives you a sense of comfort as if YOU are the only person he has to see today. While it's usually a wait for an appointment (though I must add I've never had an emergency), I feel he's definitely worth the wait. He is also available by phone and will call you if you have questions.
