Dr. Kenneth Kieun Choi, MD

Saw him for my vasectomy earlier this year. The office accommodated me quickly, he gave me the expected speech of changing my mind, then went to work. Was out in less than 15 minutes and healed in less than a week. No complaints.

Dr. Choi has excellent focus on the problem at hand. He is knowledgeable and efficient, and friendly to boot.

I saw this doctor for an enlarged prostate. He doesn’t listen to your concerns, he interrupts and doesn’t understand what you try to tell him because he fails to listen. He never attempted to do anything but prescribe antibiotics. He finally performed lab work when I pressed for it. He dismissed my symptoms as being in my own mind. Don’t bother even seeing this guy

My first visit today. I was not looking forward to seeing him based on some of the other reviews. I found him to be very different from some other reviews. Dr Choi is very warm and caring doctor.

This dr. is the worst! No bed side manners and he would not even let me talk. He presumed that I was needing many lab tests for a PSA that was 4.2 after being 3.8 for years. He also presumed I was on a number of meds that he didnt even bother to ask me.

Dr. Choi is not a listening or solving doctor. I was told to suffer with my severe condition for 21-3 weeks/ he said he isn't like other doctors that just prescribe medicine!!! My bill was astronomical and he was 45 minutes late seeing me (appt time was 9:10am and he did nothing to help me and sent me on my way so he could bill me again in two weeks! Plus his rooms have paper thin walls and I heard all the personal information the lady next to me shared with the medical assistant, doesn't HIPPA laws prevent this? Additionally, Dr. Choi dictated during my appointment time, he told me to leave the door open after I walked out as ge continued to dictate my very private medical problems so the entire office inckuding 3 waiting patients could hear, so degrading and unprofessional of him!

Lets go over the basics: if you go to see Dr. Choi exhibiting any issues of bph or prostatitis--what is he going to do for you? he is going to diagnosis you with bacterial prostatitis and very likely the first thing he will do is, without regards to any medical prudence or any test to determine the real cause of your prostate issues, i.e. blood test for estrogen, DHT, progesterone levels, he will very likely write you a prescription for ciprofloxacin and 600 mg of ibuprofen for 3 months. Ciprofloxacin, if you don't know is a very powerful antibiotic that after 3 months will not only leave you venerable to bacterial antibiotic resistance of one of the most antibiotics (which means if you need it later for a real illness or bacterial invasion you may be out of luck). He just does this without any medical prudence, just "that's how we treat bph". But wait, there more he isn't telling you, ciprofloxacin does a number on your stomach and digestive tract healthy flora and pretty… much dooms you to a life long condition called candidiasis, or what most call "leaky butt syndrome". So within the first few minutes of meeting this doctor you can look forward to any itchy leaky butt for the rest of the life for a condition that you may or may not have at all. The horror story continues but basically after several years and treatments the doctor got me confused with someone else and did not even know who I was no longer on antibodies, "so better get you back on them, pal." just horrible.

Unfortunately I have had a few negative experiences with Dr. Choi. He tends to not read/analyze reports done by prior doctors and has showed a tendency to not listen to what I am saying. He is extremely pompous and seems to think quite highly of himself and his diagnoses. He wrote the incorrect diagnosis on an MRI request while asking for an MRI that would explore outside of his diagnosis. The radiologist caught this error and it took me calling his office and a back-and-forth that lasted 45 minutes to determine the actual test he needed done. He has been quite rude to me during appointments and doesn't seem to understand how to properly communicate with human beings when they are inquiring on their health situations. I would most certainly NOT RECOMMEND Dr. Choi and I hope others will learn from my experience and pursue other qualified physicians.

Dr. Choi is wonderful--very bright, dedicated, and takes the time to explain things on a level I can understand. I'm a very big fan. He takes excellent care of me. Staff is also very good--professional, friendly, and follows up.

I don't have a problem with the doctor as much as I do the staff and the "on call" doctor. The staff does not do what they say they are going to do (re: prescriptions); the follow-up from surgery sucks. Their standard answer is to "go to the emergency room" because we can't help after hours....you should have called earlier!"
