Dr. Kevin Guy Nickell, MD

Dr Nickell is a lifesaver. He found my prostate cancer and got me the treatment I needed. Six years later I am doing great! If I had to pick one doctor I couldn’t do without from my five doctors, it would be Dr Nickell. He takes all the time you need to explain the situation and he has a great sense of humor.

I went in as a follow up visit, checking was prompt and courteous. Very short wait time, nursing staff took all vitals and verified info. Short Wait time for Doctor, reviewed and explained tests and what to look out for. Set schedule for next visit and left.

I have been a patient of Dr. Nickell for many years and have consistently received outstanding care. He is knowledgeable, thorough, patient, and compassionate. I have complete confidence in his diagnoses and treatment recommendations. As a suggestion, Houston Metro Urology might consider offering a walk-in or same-day clinic option for established patients experiencing minor but painful urinary tract infections (UTIs). The ability to receive prompt urine testing and treatment without waiting for a scheduled appointment would provide significant relief to patients. Such a service would combine the convenience of urgent care with the advantage of being treated by providers who already have access to the patient's medical history, ensuring continuity and quality of care.

Dr. Nickell has been my urologist for many years. He originally diagnosed my prostate cancer, led me through the years of watchful waiting, and directed me to external beam radiation treatment when the time was right. The cancer has been beaten, and the post treatment monitoring and follow-up have been great. Dr. Nickell is like Earl Campbell - he many not be in a class by himself, but it doesn't take long to call the roll.

My second visit to Dr. Nickell’s office was wonderful and very informative. Dr. Nickell’s way of making the patient feel comfortable during the visit is genuine. Dr. N. made me feel like I was a neighbor and was easy to talk about my concerns. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable professional urologist, who has God in his heart, Dr. Nickell is the guy!

While I generally trust the medical care here, the administrative communication has been very difficult to navigate. I’ve been bedridden for five days in severe pain, yet I’ve struggled to get a call back from the nursing staff (Juanita) after multiple messages. I later found out from the lab that a simple 'urgent' note on the CT order would have returned results in hours instead of 10 days. It’s hope the office can improve their response time for patients in acute distress."

As usual Dr Nickell was very though and explained everything. I am a little concerned about the new medication since it cost is prohibitive.

Dr. Nickell and his staff were able to me squeeze in with just a day notice. I appreciate his service and quick response to diagnosis that required change of medication. He’s been my urologist for over 15 years and has always been professional with great bedside manners.

He is a very caring and knowledgeable physician. We trust him. His bedside maners are remarkable even though he don't talk that much but he knows what he is doing. We will recomend him to any body who needs a physcian.
