I am a 59 yr old male who was living with chronic shoulder pain for years due to volleyball, soccer and skiing accidents. I pushed through the day to day pain of an active lifestyle, until recent battles with lawnmower pull cords and overfilled ShopVacs! While my range of motion was lessening, my pain level was increasing, and being a caregiver for my 92 year old mother, it was time to get serious about my condition and see a specialist. Upon review of my MRI, the ortho team at LMH Health Systems, right here in Licking County, Ohio determined the damage was more than likely beyond repair by less invasive procedures, which Dr. Kevin Ouweleen thoroughly explained to me each ones' pros and cons, especially since I am still considered fairly young. However, I wasn't interested in temporary fixes, so we both agreed upon his performing a total reverse shoulder replacement, which is the last stop in shoulder surgeries. Here I am, at day 4 post-op, and already, I am experiencing remarkable… pain relief and potentially a more full range of motion than before. Even though this review is for my care team's lead surgeon, Dr Kevin Ouweleen, whom I'd recommend for anyone considering shoulder surgery, I have to give honor where honor is due! In saying that, let me state that I can't recall any part of the process, where I experienced any anxiety, uncertainty, or doubt about my care. From the setting of my office visits and reviewing all my clinical data via Epoch's MyChart, to the professionalism of my techs, RNs, MDs, the wonderful hospital foods, and food service staff. I rank my total experience at my local community hospital, LMHealth Systems a solid 5. I absolutely trust and look forward to resolving my hip issues next!

DR OUWELEEN DID A TOTAL HIP REPLACEMENT ON ME IN MAY 2019. I LIVE THREE HOURS AWAY FROM NEWARK, OH AND DR. OUWELEEN DID EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO TAKE CARE OF ME AND MAKE SURE I WAS READY TO GO HOME. THE SAME DAY I HAD SURGERY I WAS UP AND WALKED DOWN THE HALL OF THE HOSPITAL. THE DAY AFTER SURGERY I WENT UP 2 STEPS AND BACK DOWN. THE MEDICAL STAFF AT LICKING MEMORIAL HOSPITAL WAS GREAT ALSO. MY EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN FANTASTIC!! I AM THREE MONTHS OUT SINCE SURGERY, I HAVE NO PAIN, I DO NOT NEED ANY TYPE OF ASSISTANCE WHEN WALKING (NO CANES OR WALKERS) AND AFTER A YEAR AND A HALF OF DEALING WITH PAINFUL SHOTS AT A PAIN CLINIC IN WV IT IS GREAT TO BE ABLE TO WALK AND NOT BE IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN. DR OUWELEEN IS A GREAT SURGEON AND A CARING PERSON. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. OUWELEEN.

My wife had her hip replaced 5 years ago by him she has had chronic severe pain since than she is on meds always which don't help much she cannot do anything she lays on the couch most of the time we have seen many doctors surgeons they cannot figure out what he did to her she has a screw protruding out of a bone he put in to secure the hip joint drs don't think that is the problem but not sure she has tried everything possible to ease the pain she even has a stimulator implanted she said that doesn't help much her quality of life is close to none he had her see a spine surgeon who blew her off and than he left town and moved to Newark ohio

I love Dr. Ouwleen, He is a wonderful Doctor. I am saddened that he is no longer with the practice I saw him with.

You can STOP looking for an Ortho Surgeon right now. You just found the most competent, friendly Ortho Dr. available to you. He and his team are leeps and bounds over A+. This guy has a clue. I will never use any other.

I have been seeing Dr. Ouweleen for several years. Totally trust him. Highly recommended by the nursing staff who work with him in the hospitals he is affiliated with. He sets the standard that other physicians should aspire to meet.

Dr. Ouweleen is an excellent surgeon. He has done my first knee surgery and the subsequest knee replacement. He has a wonderful bedside manner, never rushing through an appointment and always answering any questions I might have. His assistant, Seth, is just as good and is very thorough. Would not go to anyone else. The only problem with them is that if you don't get an early morning appointment, you will be waiting 1 to 2 hours but I believe it is because they do take time with each patient. Office staff is very courteous

I think Dr. Ouweleen is a wonderful surgeon and very compassionate doctor. Once you are with him, he does not make you feel rushed and will answer any and all questions presented to him in a thoughtful, trithful and caring manner.He is very competant I would highly recommend him to others.
