Dr. Kirk Maes, MD

A month ago Mason Hinkle (24) was injured when helping a friend trim some trees. Went to the ER at Homes (because he was in Mel) and they x-rayed it and he had a fracture of his tibia. He was referred to an orthopedic in Melb but they did not accept his insurance. I called his primary care Dr and she sent a referral into Dr Maes who has seen Mason since kindergarten with all of his injuries. After waiting a week for records and a week while Dr Maes was on vacation I just received a phone call this morning saying they were not going to except Mason as a patient. Not that they didn’t except his insurance that they were not going to take him as a patient. She said Dr Maes mainly does surgeries. I said Mason may need surgery because Holmes never addressed his knee issue. I have never heard anything like this and I questioned the girl. I explained that Mason had been going to Dr. Maes since he was in kindergarten for the majority of his broken bones and that is why I had his primary care

Dr. mase is very knowledgeable. He is direct and explains issues in terms you can understand.

First class surgeon . He cares. His PA, Christy, is also first class.

my parent was severely anemic which was chronic-I asked both his PA the night before surgery for a pre-surgical transfusion and she assured me he would check into it. Then on day of surgery I requested it again he dismissed the request stated he would keep a close eye on it. She made it through day of surgery well but her anemia crashed day 2 and 3 she quickly became unconscious unable to stand or eat etc., and she died 4 days post op. If they had beefed her up preop she would not have crashed so severely post operatively and she would have had a better chance

Surgery with Dr. Mass reduced my overall pain. His recipe of a pain reducing medicine cocktail during surgery made recovery exceptional. I came out of the surgery with no problems during or after recovery. He is definitely a surgeon who knows how to reduce pain for his patients.

This Dr went out of his way to accommodate our travel plans by working on Sat, his day off.......the surgery was highly successful and was altogether a good experience.

I think Dr.Kirk Maes is great doctor.He talk to u step by step,and let u know what he is going to do.Dr.Maes has good bedside manners.The staff is also great!

The office staff did not return my or physical therapist calls. My appointment was re-scheduled 4 (!!) times at their mix up.

My primary care doctor tried to make an appointment here for me. His office called Dr. Maes office. They were told they could not make an appointment until all of my test results were faxed to them. They did that and they called for my appointment when I was not home, leaving a message on my answering machine for me to call for my appointment. I called immediately the next morning and I spoke to Karen. I told her I was returning the call about my appointment. She asked who I spoke with and I said I did not have the name. She immediately said "well there are 8 of us here taking calls!" I said can't I just make an appointment? And I was told she would NOT know where to put me in the schedule and that she would have to investigate who called me and would call back when she knew who it was. Well that was Thursday. It is now Monday and NO call back. She was rude and nasty. If this is how the office staff is, I worry about having a problem and needing to speak to the doctor. Their… attitude was not acceptable.
