Dr. Kristin Jean Santangelo, MD

Please read in its entirety. The front office staff and Cindy the office manager are money hungry, lack ethical values and professionalism. I called to schedule an appointment to see Dr. Santangelo and they told me that I had to pay $100 in advance because I had missed and rescheduled appointments dating back to 2014. Since we travel back and forth between CA and Reno, and being that Dr. Santagelo is an excellent doctor, we decided to take a 7 1/2 hour drive so I could have my yearly check up, and agreed to pay $100.00 in advance with the agreement that it would be reimbursed to me as long as I showed up to my appointment. The original proposal by the office was that they would refund me after my insurance paid them, which could be approximately 3 months! When I demanded to speak with their office manager, she agreed that the $100.00 would be refunded to me as long as I showed up to my appointment. On the day of the appt, I arrived late, and was told that Dr. Santagelo could… not see me because she had an urgent surgery to attend to. They tried to reschedule my appointment, yet I was only in town for two days. Since Dr. Santagelo could not see me, I requested for my deposit to be returned since I complied by showing up for my appointment. They made me wait to speak to the office manager, to then tell me that they did not intend to provide a refund. I insisted that they refund me the $100.00 because I was there for my appointment, so their response was that they would only refund $50.00 and would charge $50.00 because I was late. I have searched for their office policy and there is no mention that a patient will be charged for being late. As I left the office, I demanded for my money to be returned and to date (a week later) they have not provided a refund. Even though doctor Santagelo is and excellent doctor, the lack of professionalism, ethics, values, morals, and care for patients from the front office leaves much to be desired.

I transferred to Dr. Santangelo in 2016 from another urologist, no longer practicing. Within two weeks I received a call regarding what follow up had need done after a 2014 CT Scan. She had studied my file. No follow up had been done. She suspected bladder cancer and scheduled a biopsy, confirmed cancer requiring bladder removal and referred me to Dr. Desai at USC Keck Medical. He performed the surgeries. I am cancer free as of Sept 2019.

Seemed rushed and impatient and didn't fully listen to me

Dr. Santangelo was knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, and her treatment was effective. That's all I need. I'm now a repeat patient for a good reason...

Been to Dr. Santangelo numerous times and I can’t say enough about her skill and care. Since there are few Urologist where I live, Dr. Santangelo and staff are always accommodating to me and take my 2 hour drive into consideration. I have never been put off and they work with me to insure I can see the Dr. promptly.

She is the best! Very thorough and communicates well with patients.

The one bad review given Dr. S is so terribly OFF the mark. Dr. Santangelo is caring and thorough. She is a great listener and so complete with her explanations to me. Even when I don't understand the first time, she is completely patient and thoroughly re-explains with caring. She follows through on my progress. I would recommend her to anyone and everyone.

Dr. Santangelo correctly diagnosed my cancer and successfully operated while it was in its early stages. She continues to monitor me and I am totally confdent with her. I would recommend her to any one with any urology problems. She is the kind of doctor we all want to find when dealing with a seriouss illness
