My husband was airlifted to the trauma team in Santa Rosa after a logging accident with 11 rib fractures and collapsed lung and degloved hand. Three days into his admission it was discovered he had 2 spinal fractures after being allowed to ambulate freely and frequent lack of return calls to Trauma teams NP’s. Surgery was scheduled and when I requested a cardiac consult, the neurosurgeon that had been assigned to the case ordered a cardiac consult, cancelled the surgery, & took herself off the case. I requested a referral to Dr Birch after recommendations from prior colleagues in the field. I could not have been happier he was clear & precise in his explanations. He helped coordinate care and kept me informed for what to expect next and what the general plan was. His surgery went very smoothly, and I felt much more secure knowing he was able to tolerate it from a cardiac perspective due to his prior cardiac condition. Words can not express the gratitude to Dr Birch for his professional… Skills, kindness, compassion, and excellent bedside manner and communication skills. We are so grateful. Also a shout out the excellent nursing care at Providence St Joes Santa Rosa Memorial . Thank you!!!!!
