Not considerate. Will not take (a single) call. Seems like he wants to bill you for non-insurance issues prematurely. Office has terrible follow up, and he will not step in to address. Left on your own. Shop elsewhere.

My husband is Dr. Sheman’s patient . His confident energy made us feel so at ease knowing we were in the right hands .Dr. Sheman deserves way more stars ! We found him to be a brilliant doctor who knows his stuff . We were VERY confident in his care. Dr. Sheman , took a biopsy very high up into my husbands sinus, sadly , the outcome was cancer . He called it before he even took the biopsy , which I also felt . My husband was completely dumbfounded where I wasn’t bevause I just knew ) and I already prepared myself . He was devestated and sad . And Dr. Sheman was so positive about it , he kept saying you are going to be fine . When a so tired reassures you the way he did it makes such a difference . He explained the type of cancer my husband has isn’t operable . Chemo and radiation . So now we moved on to oncologists . We chose memorial Sloan Kettering for his radiation being they Offer proton radiation. A gentler approach of standard radiation . Dr. Nancy Lee who is an expert in… nasopharyngeal cancer , agreed with all of Dr . sheman’s findings and treatment plan . We have a road ahead of us , but god is good . He has sent us to the most skilled hands . We will visit DR sheman once my husbands treatment is finished . He left a mark on us , as a special person . Thank you so much DR sheman.

First and foremost, before I start this review I want it to be known that I was in a vulnerable place when I after visiting Dr Shemen. I was told after receiving a biopsy that I may develop thyroid cancer. I was shocked and worried. However the doctor was annoyed and treated me like I was overly emotional. The red flags appeared. I thought nothing of it at first, then he began rushing me to set up the surgery to remove the right lobe of my thyroid and telling me that I had to pay up front for a nerve monitoring rocedure that would not be covered by insurance (Later on I learned from two other ENT surgeons that performed thyroid removals many times over that the procedure was always covered by my type of insurnace.) Getting annoyed with my questions. I then made up my mind to get a second and third opinion. Apparently what the doctor forget to tell me that the surgery was not really needed due to the biopsy showing a low risk of cancer developing but the surgery itself could put me at… high risk of damaging my ability to breathe and swallow due to a pre-existing condition of nerve paralysis that Dr. Shemen was aware off. Due to all this I decided to cancel my surgery with Dr. Shemen since I believed my health was not a high priority to him despite being hit with a $500.00 cancellation fee. On hindsight, probably a small price to pay to avoid serious harm. I am not telling anyone not to see this particular doctor, but be wary and always ask for a second opinion. As for myself, Dr. Sheman will no longer have my business

My husband was all prepped and ready for his Surgery at Lenox Hill hospital. Dr. Shemen arrived apologetically 45 mins late with an attitude! Acting as though he was providing us a service for free. Fast forward from the surgery, my husband's sinuses are still blocked/clogged, cannot smell, breathes through his mouth and has to go for another procedure, will not be going to this Dr. I would NOT RECOMMEND HIM, Also has a real arrogance about him.

Dr. Larry Shemen is the best among the best! Period!

I was referred to Dr.Shemen by my primary Physician and Dr.Shemen was excellent in detecting my problem right away after doing a thorough hearing test at his office and most of all I'm grateful that he recommended me to have an MRI done. With the MRI I found I have a tumor that I would have never ordinarily Known about and I'm currently getting treatment from his colleagues at Northwell Health. He was so nice to have them see me without an appointment the day he reviewed my MRI and noticed the tumor. Dr.Larry was very reliable and got to the bottom of my problem very quickly. He has the worst bedside manner of any doctor I've ever met. Very cold, comes off as arrogance. Told me I would have to pay $1500 for a vocal chord monitor. Had surgery elsewhere didn't pay a cent for the monitor. Very fishy I was told it would be appreciated if I didn't mention cost to my insurance.

I started seeing Dr. Shemen in 2012. He did an excellent job with the preparation, surgery and followup appointments for my tongue cancer. The procedure was successful with no complications and the followup care has been great. I would highly recommend Dr. Shemen.

Avoid this doctor! I went to Dr. Shemen with test results showing a parotid glad tumor. He checked the test results, examined me and said the was absolutely no tumor and sometimes the test results were wrong. I asked about further testing and he told me that was not necessary and not to worry there was no tumor. I went to another doctor, had additional testing and found out I had two tumors malignant in the parotid gland and I will need surgery. Stay away from Dr. Sheman.

This man is absolute worst doctor i have ever encountered in my life. I went to his office because 2 nodules were found on my thyroid. This chop shop doctor wanted to schedule me for surgery ASAP. Also told me i have Hashimoto's disease and would not be able to have children. The visit to his office was traumatizing to say the least. He is rude and unprofessional. After getting a second opinion, not only did i not need surgery but i didn't need to be on medications either. This man is a nightmare.
