My experience at this office has been very disappointing. I went three times seeking an evaluation for my son, as he is sometimes a bit hyperactive and lately has been struggling to concentrate in class. During the first visit, the doctor only asked me what my child was like, but I didn’t feel much interest from him. The second visit was for a test with electrodes on his head, which thankfully came back normal. My third and last visit was the worst. After driving an hour to the office, the doctor spent barely one minute with us. He just asked how my son was doing. I explained that he was fine, but that he had some school difficulties because he doesn’t speak English well yet and has trouble focusing. The doctor’s only response was that he needed medication. When I said that I preferred behavioral therapy instead of medication, he got upset and told me that “it doesn’t work,” ending the consultation coldly without offering any other guidance. I left the office crying, very frustrated,… and without feeling that I received a professional evaluation or humane care. I strongly believe that a pediatric neurologist should be understanding, listen to parents, and provide alternatives—not just impose medication as the only solution. I do not recommend this place for children. The care was insensitive, very unprofessional, and not suitable for families looking for real support for their kids

No compassion. Full of himself. No empathy for a scared7 year old and her worried parents.

Awful experience, I would not recommend Dr. Mate if you're in need of a neurologist who is responsive to your individual clinical needs.

Went in for an Autism evaluation of my 16 year old. The Dr was very abrupt and dismissive. He made a comment that was very upsetting that was essentially a judgement of my parenting. It was unprofessional and insensitive. He asked me if I have ever had testing done on him like MRI's and such. When I said no, because I have felt that the evaluations done by the schools have been accurate, he looked at me and asked if I have been living in Zimbabwe all this time! To question the mother of a child with ADHD and Autism in such a manner is completely uncalled for! He has no idea what I have been through in the past 16 years!
