Dr. Laura Jane Mechanic, MD

Negative experience. Dismissive staff and Dr. was over 45 mins late. Never saw her- had to leave for another appointment.

She’s great for simple allergies but as soon as things get tough, she does not want to be bothered. She brushed off my concerns and did not take my symptoms seriously. I had to see another doctor who ran tests (Mechanic told me there were no tests to run) and found out I have an autoimmune disease that is attacking my lungs, skin and lymph nodes………not asthma & hives. Mind you I asked her if this could be autoimmune and she completely ignored my message on the portal and brushed me off when I brought it up during an appointment. I felt so defeated and unheard. If Dr. Mechanic would have taken my symptoms seriously and sent me for a simple xray, she would have been the one to find this. Thank god I listened to my body and went to get a second opinion. I have a long journey ahead of me and I will not be stepping foot in WestMed for any of my care, thanks to this doctor.

I’m so happy to have stumbled open this option, this lady is extremely rude and unprofessional , she has no interest in helping her patients, i didn’t want to think racist about her but another review indicated and it seems so , my allergic reaction issue is now a year out unresolved and she sends multiple messages to discuss results as opposed to picking up the phone, working with her has been very frustrating and she literally does not care so don’t waste your time trying to get a resolve .

I first saw Dr.Mechanic when WestMed was Kaiser Permente she is an outstanding Dr. she started my management for my allergies with monthly injections I credit her today for how my allergies have improved significantly! I am know longer a patient I'm not living in the area for many years now but I never forgot her. I highly recommend Dr. Mechanic she's personable and makes you feel comfortable during office visits. She started off nice but is not thorough, does not follow up, and seemingly does not care about her patients. Waste of time

First thing is that the office is clean and the staff is very friendly...Dr Mechanic was so nice and easy to talk to..She explained everything in detail and gave all the options available to me...She spent a lot of time with me and was very knowledgeable..I would absolutely recommend her

I had an appointment with this rude, arrogant, know it all except for what I had doctor! She spoke to me as if I wasn't human! Maybe she's a racist? That's all I could possible think of to make sense of how she treated me! I'm not the only one! My pcp stated that every one of her patients that have gone to her have been disappointed! I'm just glad that I never have to see her again! I won't even step foot into the Ridge Hill office again! I hope Westmed wakes up and gets rid of this one she will ruin Westmed's reputation! Great doctor. Only wish wait times were shorter. But I understand it is new york and she is a great doctor, so she has a lot of patients.
